Eureka May See Warmest Temps of the Year as October Starts with the Final Gasp of Summer
Press release from the National Weather Service Eureka, California:

After a couple cool days, October will start with a final gasp of summer. Many interior areas will return above 90 with some offshore wind helping even the coast to reach the 70s!After a cool summer, these temperatures will be some of the hottest for Eureka so far this year.
The NWS forecast states, “In Eureka, the NBM has a 50% chance of temperatures above 73 on Wednesday, which would make it the warmest day of the year so far.”

I always wondered where that term came from.
