Mobile Produce Pantry Returns to Monthly Schedule

As the summer growing season comes to an end, so has Food for People’s seasonal drive-thru Free Produce Markets which strive to expand accessibility to fresh fruits and vegetables for local residents. For those still looking for opportunities to access fresh and healthy foods, Food for People has many countywide distributions available.

In Redway, Food for People’s Mobile Produce Pantry will return to its regular monthly schedule, visiting the Redway Baptist Church on the second Tuesday of every month from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. Southern Humboldt residents can also access grocery staples at the Garberville Food Pantry located at the Presbyterian Church which is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 AM to 12 PM and Wednesdays from 2 to 4 PM.

Community members who are used to visiting the Free Produce Markets in Eureka and Fortuna are encouraged to visit their community food pantry. The Eureka Choice Pantry is currently located at 1720 10th St. in the Cooper Gulch area and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Call (707) 407-0447 for appointments. The Fortuna Food Pantry (St. Joseph’s Pantry Shelf) is located at 2292 Newburg Rd. and distributes Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 AM to noon. Additionally, Food for People’s Mobile Produce Pantry sets up a pop-up distribution in front of Fortuna Community Services on the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
