This is the final tally that will be given tonight.
Statewide a number of races have been called by the NY Times. Here’s some:
- Gavin Newsom takes the Governor’s race with an overwhelming lead.
- Alex Padilla is being declared the winner in the US Senate race.
- Jared Huffman Wins District 2 for the House
- Prop. 1 The Constitutional Right to Reproductive Freedom is an overwhelming yes for the pro choice position.
- Prop 26 Sports Betting legalized at Native American Casinos etc Overwhelming no.
- Prop 27 The online sports betting measure is overwhelmingly no
- Prop 28 Arts funding in education is a solid yes.
- Prop 29 No to strengthen the Dialysis Clinic Requirements.
- Prop 30 Being called a No for the Electric Vehicle Incentive tax
- Prop 31 Yes to uphold a 2020 ban on some flavored tobacco products.
Remember that a large number of votes still remain to be counted in both Humboldt County and in the Statewide races but here’s what Humboldt County has voted so far:

Why is it if you look at a map of the country colored blue and red depending on which party voted for. All blue is in primarily office worker territory and red is in all physical labor territory? Big Government?! Do you mean a big military because that is what takes a huge chunk of our annual budget and tax revenue. Republicans always hate government until it isn’t there for them. More often then not, government programs are hugely beneficial to people, but most people have no clue what government does. Defense spending is about 10% of the budget. Mandated spending – things like social security, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, food and dependant child benefits and VA benefits are about 77%.
About 20% of the money from stocks goes to pension plans. The profits paid out in 2023 are expected to be about 2.5 trillion so the profits paid by corporations after pension is about 2 trillion. Which is about one third of the governments budget of 6 trillion.
The discretionary budget for 2022 is $1.688 trillion. Much of it goes toward military spending, including Homeland Security, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other defense-related departments. The rest must pay for all other domestic programs.
And 20% of your tax dollars go to the defense budget.

Social Security has a tax (“contribution”) to get benefits. So while lower wage earner pay less tax to get their benefits, none are paid without tax. So hardly welfare.
Democrats have been promoting lower taxes for actual working people anytime the issue of taxes come up. It is the Democrats who always fight for increasing child tax credits, etc. Unfortunately, republicans always give the largest tax breaks to the wealthiest people. These are FACTS!!! It’s true that Republicans tend to lower taxes for everyone so that those paying the most tax do get bigger reductions. And Democrats hardly ever reduce taxes on worker’s income because then where would they get the money? What democrats do is redistribute taxes to those who pay less (or none) in the first place.

I have not looked into to any of these data, & do not plan on doing it going forward, so I can only speculate.
I think everyone should have a tax number of dollars assigned to them on every election, and every candidate will be able to show how they can either raise that number or lower it. And just for transparency sake, let’s see everyone’s tax owed or tax dollars taken. I’ve only got high school education but I do pay over a million dollars a year in taxes, does that make me smarter,crack me up. Dollars,education, age all mean nothing if you can’t see the world through others eyes.

I absolutely agree, those mail in ballots are the corruption of the voting system. I personally saw a mail in ballot that was sent to a person that has been deceased for several years. One living person one vote in person is how it should be, too easy for one person to cast multiple votes with the mail in system . If I know of one bad ballot then how many thousand were mailed to others throughout the state?

Oregon has been doing all vote by mail for 25 years. It works fine. The handful of people who voted illegally (like using their daughter’s who was out of state to vote and then signed the ballot.) That’s the thing, the signatures are checked. Another one tried to vote in both Oregon and Washington (the greater Portland metro area includes Vancouver, WA.
Though there was one election helper who got busted filling in unmarked choices on ballots sent in. She got caught, too.
OR, WA, CO, HI, NV, OR, UT, VT and WA all have vote by mail. CA is going that way. I don’t know.
As for ballot harvesting, there was a case of that, back in the Carolinas, somewhere like that. They too got busted. A Republican operative in a Republican state.
The population of the US is huge, and th old quaint poll stations have become untenable (as is closing many polling stations or moving them out of town (looking at you Texas). I’m sure you’ve seen the incredibly long lines of people waiting hours to vote. That’s just crazy, and I believe deliberate. But even if it is just willful incompetence it is still bad for democracy.

In the end, I am not worried about abortion. I voted because I’m more worried about people having the fuel to heat their houses through the winter and money to pay bills. Everyone working all the time and still not being able to fill their gas tank or buy food, and the stress that follows will make it too hard to find time to fornicate, which means no abortions. In a really awful result for the country while a sleazy but successful tactic for the Democrats, the Democratic PACs putting money into the far right (read wacko) Republicans in party primaries, seems to have worked. The more moderate Republicans were defeated in their primaries leaving success for Democrats to win against them. Way to lower the standards when people thought they couldn’t get lower. Way to keep the spite as the operating factor in government.
The only possible silver linings are 1) Republicans may not be so afraid of Trump’s influence and 2) believers of the propaganda have another chance to confront the reality that they have been following a Judas goat over a cliff.
