Okay, now it’s time for the conservatives and liberals to blame one another for the accident.
Because you asked!
Being stupid and driving recklessly is neither liberal nor conservative, unless you want to figure in Humboldt County having nearly the worst crash stats in the nation and it’s majority population is liberal. Other than that, there are stupid drivers on both sides. And just to refresh your memory, Bret Watson is a liberal POS who seems to think a DUI including cocaine and alcohol doesn’t deem him unfit for duty. Also, the liberal POS Governor, whose uncle was hooked up for DUI told prosecutors and CHP to stand down and would not allow him to pay for his crime.
That said, I have no idea whether the individual who was driving irresponsibly in this case was liberal or conservative, and it doesn’t matter.
Accident number 3 for the day. I hope the driver will be ok.
Fast cars plus stupid drivers equals crashes and injures.
so if I have a phd and drive a model T every thing will be all right ?
I guess any car is bad with a stupid driver. There are stupid high school dropouts and stupid PHDs. There are a bunch of stupid driving medical staff from St. Joseph’s Hospital. I see them every day. There’s a stupid Humboldt Bay Fire driver who frequently drives on California Street who has nearly run me off the road many times in his fire SUV because he drives with his driver’s side on or across the yellow line at all times. There’s an EPD officer who nearly hit me head on turning left from Harrison to Myrtle recently because he was too lazy to complete the turn in his lane, but cut right at me in the wrong lane. There’s a school bus driver who hasn’t learned the progression of who turns or goes straight in which order at the intersection in front of MHS and has nearly hit me more than once. There are all kinds of stupid people who don’t know it is the merger who must merge safely at onramps instead of forcing their way recklessly onto the highway. There are countless stupid people who believe stop signs and red lights are optional. Then, there are stupid people everywhere who drive above their or their car’s ability and just crash needlessly.
So I guess it depends on whether you care enough about others, regardless of your “education” that makes the determination.
I believe it is more than stupidity. Observe southbound between eureka and humboldt Hill, 4-6pm. The drivers exiting at humboldt hill are dodging, weaving, speeding, overly slow, infrequently changing lanes cutting people off.
This is pure rude, selfish, entitlement, when snobs think their time is more important and every one else is in the way. That concept oozes out of these pukes as they nearly avert daily accidents.
You people don’t have anything better to do with your time? The driver is a very good friend of mine. Would you make the same comments if it was your friend or daughter? It says that there’s major injuries. You’d think you’d be more concerned with that.
I’m more concerned about what happens regularly to people who aren’t the cause of the crash. So often, irresponsible drivers take out other vehicles and those in them. Unfortunately, thoughts of driving safely and not being reckless aren’t considered often enough. If you actually read my comment, I listed a whole bunch of examples I see daily. Safe, careful, responsible drivers are extremely rare in this area. Everyone is so concerned about the epidemic of drug overdoses around here, yet an addict generally only kills themself. I’m much more concerned about the epidemic of reckless drivers who severely injure and kill others, not just themselves. If your friend was driving irresponsibly, there is plenty of room for compassion for injuries sustained as a result, but also maybe a lesson in driving safely in the future. I speak as someone who has had major injuries on two separate occasions, both caused by others who were driving unsafely. So pardon me for pointing out in my list of reckless drivers the diversity of those involved in this behavior. Also, just look at the fact that there’s now a report of three fatal accidents in a twelve hour period, with another just a day or two before, not to mention the huge number of nonfatal major injury accidents in the last week. I’m thankful your friend wasn’t killed, but even more thankful it was only a single vehicle involved.
Could be the driver is type 1 diabetic experiencing low blood sugar, and so made the jackass maneuver.
That’s a good thought. I hope someone as heroic is near me to give me encouraging words and thoughts. The lady who talked to the man and gave him comfort is a hero to me.
