Fairway Closed After Crash This Afternoon
Law enforcement closed Fairway Drive this afternoon just after 3 p.m. following a crash near Martin Slough where Fairway and Herrick merge.
A 19-year-old female occupied one crashed vehicle and 100 yards away another vehicle is also damaged.
The first reports said that there were injuries. However, the occupants have declined medical assistance.

I used to live in that area. Used to be common every few weeks, or so. I’ll put money on one or both going too fast around that turn.
There have been a number of accidents in that are for a while. People seem to think Herrick is the freeway into Eureka. Probably speed, talking on the cell phone, not paying attention, drunk, etc. Would be a perfect place for a camera that is on 24/7 and tracking the vehicles that go by.

I know what the Herrick Road is, and it is the Freeway into Eureka. It is a death trap waiting to happen, and I have seen drugged out transient’s stagger along the road coming out of the brush along the way. It is just a matter of time before someone dies!
