One New COVID Death, Case Numbers Continue to Drop

Humboldt County Public Health reported today the death of a resident aged 70 or older from COVID-19.
Eight previously confirmed positive cases were removed as they were determined to be from another jurisdiction or previously reported. One new probable case was added for the period between Tuesday, March 29, and Tuesday, April 5. The total number of confirmed cases in the county stands at 17,088. An additional 3,010 cases are reported as probable.
“Confirmed cases” represents the total confirmed positive PCR tests results or detection of SARS-CoV-2 by genomic sequencing, and “probable cases” are individuals who:
- Have a positive antigen (Ag) test for COVID-19, or
- Were diagnosed by a health care provider with COVID-19 disease, or
- Have symptoms of COVID-19 disease after being in close contact with a person having a PCR-confirmed test result, or
- Were a decedent whose death certificate lists COVID-19 as a cause or significant contributing factor of their death, in the absence of a positive PCR test result.
Local vaccination data has been updated. Highlights include:
- Since the last weekly report on March 30, 104 additional residents completed their vaccine series.
- A total of 88,863, or approximately 65% of the county’s total population was fully vaccinated as of Tuesday.
Individuals should stay home and away from others and get tested if they become sick or experience COVID-19 symptoms that may include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue or muscle aches.
OptumServe offers rapid antigen testing and PCR testing services at the Wharfinger site in Eureka Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments for all testing services are strongly recommended and can be made at lhi.care/covidtesting or by calling 888-634-1123.
Vaccines remain readily available and, as always, Humboldt County’s vaccination and testing services are available free of charge. Walk-ins are welcome at all Public Health clinics and some pharmacy vaccination sites. Appointments can also be made at MyTurn.ca.gov.
Second booster shots of Pfizer and Moderna are now available for those 50 and older, as well as certain immunocompromised individuals, as long as it has been four months since your first booster shot, at all Humboldt County Public Health vaccine clinics. It must be four months since your first booster shot. You can also check with your pharmacy about availability. To check the availability of a specific vaccine, visit the vaccines.gov page, or text your ZIP code to 438829 to locate a nearby pharmacy offering vaccines.

Latest information released is now on indicating that natural immunity, was just as effective as vaccination, all along, and Pfizer knew it.
Some people come through COVID with immunity for several months and some people die.
The point, Kym, is, that those that had Covid19 before vaccination was even available, shouldn’t have been told that the weren’t adequately protected, and needed prompt vaccination, because promptly vaccinating after an infection did not provide additional protection, and likely did more harm than good.
It was shown at one point, shortly after rollout, that after an unvaccinated Covid19 infection, two mRNA shots, were less effective that one, at prebemting a second infection, yet two shots, not just one, were still advised and administered.
That was contraindicated.
You are talking about now, the information I am talking about was discovered before vaccine rollout, and people were misled to believe it was necessary to vaccinate promptly, after surviving a Covid19 infection.
Big difference.
It would still apply, that promptly vaccinating, after surviving a Covid19 infection, would be contraindicated.

I’m sure it’s still being encouraged.
They are advocating for a fourth booster, while at the same time raising awareness for the necessity to reformulate the vaccines, due to them being less effective and short lived against the current and upcoming variant, at a time when cases, etc., are at the lowest the have been in recent history.
And the younger are at a much lower risk from the virus, but a lot higher risk from the vaccine, especially with additional doses.
There are a lot of contradictions in all of that advice and the current circumstances.

SB 1464 would force law enforcement officials to enforce public health orders;
AB 1993 would require all employees, including independent contractors, to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine to work in California;
AB 1797 would make changes to the California Immunization Record Database;
AB 2098 would reclassify the sharing of COVID-19 “misinformation” by doctors and surgeons as unprofessional conduct that would result in disciplinary action.
Critics said the bills infringe on the health privacy of children, interfere with how doctors work, impose a burden on businesses and workers, and rely on vaccines that do not in many cases prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

For the last week, unvaxxed hospitalizations went somehow, inexplicably, from 453, to 452, and vaxxed hospitalizations went from 74 to 75. So 1 vaxxed hospitalization, compared to “-1” unvaxxed hospitalizations…
Go figure…, But, clearly more vaxxed hospitalizations, than unvaxxed hospitalizations, despite the inexplicably inaccurate, clownish, data.
For the last week, 1 Covid19 death is indicated, and the undifferentiated total went from 140 to 141.
But the vaxxed vs unvaxxed data remained, inexplicably, again, 117 unvaxxeded deaths, vs 21 vaxxed deaths, resulting in no way to tell if the only Covid19 death in the last week was vaccinated or unvaccinated.
What is also inexplicable, is why the most recent data on one of the vaxxed vs unvaxxed bar graphs for hospitalizations or deaths, is from February 27th?
That was 38 days ago. 38 days!???

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a health warning about an outbreak of meningococcal disease in Florida, which the agency said is mainly affecting gay and bisexual men, including those living with HIV.
The CDC urged gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men to get the MenACWY vaccine if they live in Florida. It also recommended that those planning to visit Florida talk with their health care provider about getting the vaccine.
The agency added in the advisory that multiple meningococcal disease cases in college students have been reported in the state over the last few months. However, the CDC added that there is no evidence to suggest that the cases among college students are related to the larger outbreak.
Meningococcal disease is caused by a bacteria called Neisseria meningitidis and the CDC said that it is preventable and treatable. The advisory added that getting vaccinated is the best way to protect against meningococcal disease.
According to the CDC, the two most common types of meningococcal infections are meningitis, which is an infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord, and bloodstream infection, both of which can quickly become deadly.

Mothers of infants are the latest group of consumers to feel the pinch of supply chain issues as a major drug-store chain announces it will ration baby formula.
Walgreens — the nation’s second-largest pharmacy with over 9,000 locations — is taking the extreme step of limiting purchases of formula, according to the company.
A Walgreens spokesperson confirmed they were limiting formula purchases to three per customer, telling CBS MoneyWatch it is due to “increased demand and various supplier issues.”
As of last month, 29% of the most popular baby formula products were out of stock across the country, according to Datasembly, which tracked the supply at over 11,000 stores. That number has increased by 17% since November.
“This is a shocking number that you don’t see for other categories,” Ben Reich, CEO of Datasembly, told CBS MoneyWatch. “We’ve been tracking it over time, and it’s going up dramatically. We see this category is being affected by economic conditions more dramatically than others.”
To make things worse, Abbott Nutrition recalled its powdered baby formula products in February after five infants were hospitalized and two died after they were given the formula, the FDA said.
The shortage is troubling, but the Infant Nutrition Council of America urges parents not to hoard formula, advising instead that a 10-to-14-day supply is enough.

Article by Chris Hedges who, all during the Trump administration and until last month (6 yrs), hosted a TV program paid for and broadcast by the Kremlin’s infamous RT (Russia Today). He used to be a decent journalist but lost his way, then lost juicy propaganda job with Putin (thanks America!), and now he’s bitter. Crack goes the limb, under fecal-matter weight.
What are the false or misleading statements or claims that he’s made that make you assert he lost his way as a journalist?

Second, I initially responded to squirrel as to who Hedges had been working for just prior, 6 years starting when Putin backed Donny. (Hmm, Hedges not a Clinton fan, so …. ). It’s interesting, to say the least, smelly even, when a left-leaning journalist goes working for right-leaning Kremlin-funded and -directed propaganda machine. Here’s a guy decrying for decades as to what’s been wrong. I’ve no real argument with most of his past work, even if his current Salon article is writ sensational (gotta bring in those readers, eh). But as he went and worked for the same kind of ugly machine (but worse) that he’s historically criticized, so much for high morals and ethics, eh.
RT America, had some ok stuff, fun stuff, weird stuff, on down to utter foo-foo, but scummy Kremlin crud mixed in. That’s how they rope folk , with Sugar, Fat, Salt, and the strong dash of Polonium-210. Seems to still be working, here, heh. Poor Hedges, even he’s more or less admitted RT is Kremlin propaganda. Oops.
So here we have another example of a journalist whose work you dismiss because of emotional associations you have to people and organizations associated with some part of their career.
But you don’t have any particular complaint about the journalists actual work. Just some sort of vague accusations of association. You’re obviously entitled to disagree with the conclusions a given journalist draws. But you’re disagreement doesn’t mean the journalist has “lost their way”. In fact, if you can’t point to some foundational error in their logic or evidence of some sort of untruthful behavior by them, then it seems likely that it’s you that is lost.
Missing it, again, completely, and adding foo-foo to boot. Back to unlimited hangout.
So after you explain to us what exactly Mr Hedges has gotten wrong, I presume you’ll finally reveal what it is you believe Ms Webb had gotten wrong.
