[UPDATE Wednesday] Missing Woman Located in Salmon Creek; Believed to Be Associated With Sunday Burglary, Says Sheriff’s Office

Heather Taylor

Crop of one photo of Heather Taylor shared widely on Facebook as family and friends worried about her safety.

This afternoon, Lt Sam Williams of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Heather Taylor who was reported missing was located in the Salmon Creek area. Taylor’s photo was widely shared yesterday and today as family and friends were concerned that she was outside in the rain and cold for an extended period of time without contacting them.

Another photo cropped from social media that was widely circulated as family and friends sought the missing woman.

Williams said Taylor is believed to have been involved in a burglary that occurred in watershed early Sunday.

Taylor was located in an empty yurt not far from where another suspect was taken into custody on Sunday.

On Sunday, neighbors and law enforcement worked together to foil thieves escaping from the property they victimized. A manhunt located two male suspects, Wesley Evans and Wade Harris but a woman who was believed to have been with the men escaped.

“[Heather Taylor] is thought to be the female who was involved in the incident…though the other involved parties deny that,” Williams said in an email earlier today.

UPDATE Wednesday: Williams told us that Heather Taylor “was cited and released.”

I’d rather have a TV stolen then be hit by a drunk driver. I’d rather have my truck stolen than be rapped or work a whole summer and get ripped off by my boss. That may be the biggest issue to you but not everyone. Until there is Free rehab and great mental health care for all then I can’t really judge an addict and petty thief.

So I bet you’re okay with wasting billions dollars a year on war and bailing out Wall Street with our taxes. But we can’t use those taxes back on ourselves, our society, and our infrastructure. Cause that would be socialism which would be bad. Socialism is only for the rich while the rest of the people can pull themselves up by the bootstraps. /s

It’s nonsensical to equate objecting to thieves who blame everyone else for what evil they do to bailing out Wall Street or wasting money on war. In fact it is the knee jerk reaction of all socialists- they announce that anyone who objects to their harebrained schemes must be evil because they object to helping poor people when what the real objections are about is the socialist’s schemes create more problems than they solve. In fact, although they keep renaming their theories each time they fail as if that will finally get the same ideas to work, these schemes always involve taking from those who produce and giving it to those who don’t produce yet fully expecting that those who produce will keep working away, producing ever more while gaining nothing. Silly ideas that no amount of good intentions validate.

Tax laws are written to be followed by everyone. Anyone can write off expenses if the criteria is met. Every one has the opportunity to be/get rich, whether from hard work, investment, invention or winning the lottery. People that are already rich do a lot of investing and many have a business (or many businesses) that employ people. Many rich people support their community and fund research and hospitals etc etc etc. Many middle class people have hobby business and wrote off tons of “Marginal” things…so if a rich person has a private jet and uses it for business…then why should they not write that off? I guess I just don’t see your logic. He also gave everyone else a tax break.

Dean Baker and Evan Butcher did a rough calculation showing that if Amazon had always been required to collect sales taxes, it would have collected a total of $20.4 billion in sales taxes from its founding in 1994 through 2015, which is more than twice its lifetime profits of around $9.1 billion.

But wait — there’s more tax avoidance!

Amazon barely pays any federal income tax at all. Part of that is its strategy to avoid booking any profits for years, preferring to invest everything back into the business. But part of Amazon’s low tax rate is the result of aggressive tax planning.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump-is-jealous-that-amazons-bezos-is-better-at-avoiding-taxes-2018-04-04

Actually, there are more ways to make money.

Amazons Alexa uses Wikipedia, which is a free service, for the answers to a majority of users questions.

How much does Jeff Bezos or Amazon pay Wiki for this? $0.00

Wiki is in need of donations, fyi.

https://slate.com/technology/2018/10/amazon-echo-wikipedia-wikimedia-donation.html

By 2021 Alexa will be a $18-$19 billion-dollar industry for Amazon.

https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/amazon-stock-price-alexa-19-billion-business-rbc-says-2018-12-1027829391

There are a lot of ways to take or “make” money.

And the tax code and system are flawed.

I’ve never said anything about Hunter Biden.

We have roads, schools, police and some of us have fire “services”. Funding even. The ever growing bureacracies just want more and more for less and less ‘”services”.

Amazon and Bezo’s didn’t take $20 billion they just didn’t transfer other people’s money to the government. I know they collect sales tax from me.

I know you didn’t say anything right now about Hunter.

But I highly doubt you would clarify and state that you “don’t want the Biden/Barisma investigated”.

Nonetheless, I figure we (Americans) have tens of billions of tax revenue not being distributed.

The red states need that tax-revenue-money, man!

Ullr,

Looking into Amazon as the example, which it has been for a couple years.

Amazon disclosed new details about its U.S. taxes for 2019 in public financial documentsand a blog post Friday morning, saying its federal income tax expense for the year was more than $1 billion, in addition to more than $2 billion in other types of federal taxes.

The disclosures appear designed to push back against assertions from politicians and researchers that Amazon does not pay any federal income tax. However, the federal income tax is still a small fraction of the company’s profits, representing about 6 percent of the $14.5 billion in operating income that Amazon reported Thursday in its year-end financial report.

https://www.geekwire.com/2020/amazon-reveals-new-details-federal-tax-bill-shot-across-bow-critics/

If Amazon pays about 6%, that seems a bit short of common rates, as mentioned in an article that I do think you would enjoy.

Now, it could be the opinion of some politicians that, even at 67.9% and 28.3%, the top quintile and top 1% aren’t paying enough. That’s fine—they can think that if they like and feel free to campaign as such. But to call that “unfair” you’d have to have a pretty odd definition of “fair.” Or be a politician. Either/or. Or both.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/larahoffmans/2012/07/31/tax-rates-and-the-great-fairness-debate/#2ec2b506bfd1

That article has some very interesting points, such as:

In 1946, the highest-bracket rate was cut to 86.45% from 94%—and tax receipts were 17.7% of GDP. In 1952, the highest rate was back at 92%, and tax receipts were 19% of GDP. In 1962, the top rate was 91% and receipts were 17.6% of GDP. Two years later, the rate was cut again to 77%—and receipts were 17.6% of GDP. Identical.

In 1982, the top rate was slashed—slashed I tell you—to 50%. And tax receipts were 19.2% of GDP. (Tax receipts were higher at a 50% top rate than any time during the post-WWII era of 80% and 90% tax rates.) The top rate was cut to 38.5% in 1987 then 28% in 1988, and tax receipts were 18.4% and 18.2% of GDP.

Hands down, the highest tax receipts in the post-WWII era were in 1998, 1999 and 2000—at 19.9%, 19.8% and 20.6%—when the top rate was 39.6%

Sounds like you are just pissed you don’t have a airplane.
Now as for bailing out Wall Street I can’t agree with that . Wall Street should be torn down and buried used as a nuclear waste storage site. Wall Street is exactly what is wrong with not just America but the world.
Spending money on the military is a must. Just look at it like buying a fire truck before there is a fire, there will be wars just as there will be fires and if we have any chance of keeping what few freedoms we have left we must spend money on military and ensure our service men and women have the best we can give them both in training and equipment period.

The world is what it is, not what you think it should or could be. The fact is there are a lot of drug addicts in this country. Drug addicts are sick, and the are often petty criminals. Throwing them in prison has been about as successful as trickle down economics and Great Society programs. We need a new approach. Based on the sad reality and the current knowledge of experts in the field of substance abuse. Some combination of detention, treatment, and supervised probation. Along with follow up to help them stay clean. If they revert, it’s back to detention. And enough funding to make the program successful. Every addict who gets off drugs is a life saved.

Incarceration doesn’t work. We can’t spend money on ourselves to help the least among us with our taxes but we sure can bail out the rich and continue on wars for decades which would pay for everybody’s health care including mental health. But no we have a system that is ran by for-profit insurance and an oligarchy that continues to put the rest of the people in debt. On top of that if you do your research you would understand that the war on drugs has been undertaken by covert three-letter agencies to pay for shadow wars. Further, evidence from Portugal shows that if drugs are decriminalized and society provides mental health services along with withdrawal services then crime as well as drug use goes down. But as long as we continue to allow an oligarchy of rich people to rule us and decide that we’re going to bail them out as well as bomb a bunch of poor people so they can gain resource control then we the little people will have to put up with crime, being put into debt for medical care, and not really being represented.

You want free medical care but don’t want to be told what to do. If we have to pay to birth your children pay to feed them pay to house them pay to teach them, well than I say we should get to decide who gets to breed and who doesn’t . I mean if we are all stuck paying for your night of drunk fun we should at least get something.

Hmm… Isn’t detention very similar to “throwing them in prison?” The level of bureaucracy needed to keep check on the infinite variety of ways that humans can screw up would be huge. Not to mention that drug counselors and medical providers, while noble in their intentions, demand to get paid like everyone else. In fact the American court system would guarantee that the few drones who don’t screw up yet have to hear how evil they are for expecting to use their own earning for their own wants would have no defense.

We have people suing in court for everything. In fact the earliest formal experience I ever had to save a person from themselves involved trying to get a town drunk into treatment before he died. I was pulling into a slot in a crowded parking lot and hit the brakes just before I ran over him passed out between two parked cars. I had had contact with him on the streets previously. He was a cheerful drunk but he was going to die. I contacted social services and they started proceeding to get him under county conservatorship. I provided a statement to the court about what I had seen over the years. The court ordered a conservatorship to manage his funds ( he has some monthly income) in order to get him a place to live. He filed an appeal, got a court appointed lawyer, who obtained a new court paid for psychological evaluation that found him not incompetent. He won his appeal, regained access to his money, became constantly drunk again (he had only been sober for the evaluation because the conservator was using his money for housing and food,) and was dead from exposure the next month.

Also illuminating was that, while he was a very cheerful drunk, he was the nastiest aggressive bastard when forced to be sober. It was the first experience in reality but there were a number more in the following years. Nothing is as simple as it seems to those who believe in the simple fix.

So you are right that the world is what it is but not about what it is.

They are talking about removing “pay for bail”, and instead, letting people out on there own recognizance. I can’t wait! People like Wade shouldn’t be running around free. That boy is lucky to be alive with as many people as he has fucked over in this county. And as for this female. How can she not be arrested already? She evaded police and trespassed, possibly broke into the home she was in when they found her. They say crime doesn’t pay, but it sure looks like they get away with so much shit!

That’s not what the removal of pay bail means at all. Quite the opposite actually. Not sure about this woman but it would likely mean that someone like Wade Harris would have no bail option due to his obvious threat to the community, no more heroin dealers getting bailed out and disappearing, no more broke folks losing their job and housing because they got caught with pills and couldn’t bail out

Thats the intention, but how’s it going to work. Theres not enough space to hold everyone, so People will be or’d by their “threat to the community” level. But given the charges given to the two men when they have the track record they do, we winder how the assessment will be made.

On a side note, itneresting to see affluent salmon creek get treated much like rancho rednecks by honsals team…. those charges say to me, ‘you people live outside the law, so we dont care. You figure this out.’

Actually the presumption would be that a person should be released unless clear evidence of a public danger exists. A judge determines that. Given the history of brain dead judges in Humboldt I’d speculate that most defendants would be released almost immediately on a promise to appear… people you or I know to be risks to the public don’t often present that way in a court hearing.

I think as a community it would be good to be informed as to when these people like Wade Harris or other thieves, are having their trials or bail hearings so the community can engage. We are having an epidemic of these low lives and we should see to it that the justice system works to protect people in the hills who are less protected by law enforcement. These people need to go away and leave our communities in peace.

It’s called progressiveness.
This kind of “judicial reform” (sic) is in the agenda country wide if democrats take over. We are experiencing it first hand with folks like wade and his crew, and there ain’t a dam thing you can do about but lock your sh!t up and live in fear of it being stolen by force from lowlife drug addicts. Isn’t the poster child of progression in this country great! Me personally, I’m fed up with it. Young drug addicts living off of government subsidies wander my neighborhood flipping door handles, stealing mail, burglarizing homes when people are off to work and stealing whatever is not tied down day n night. Every week . If you do something about , you go to jail because of violence. When has thievery been accepted into any society? Well it has here in California. This is only the beginning of what liberals will be bringing to the table. Accept it, because it’s only going to get worse.

And Sweden? If, as a headline in this paper once claimed, it is “the most successful society the world has ever seen”, why aren’t more of you dreaming of “a little place” in Umeå?”

“Finland ranks third in global gun ownership behind only America and Yemen; has the highest murder rate in western Europe, double that of the UK; and by far the highest suicide rate in the Nordic countries.”

Well what we call a crime certainly has. But do people here feel more secure with the reality?

For sure. When the numbers don’t get counted the way that serves your agenda … change the rules do a recount.

I’m very liberal on most stuff.. but I hate thieving drug addict so much it makes me angry. It’s not a left right issue! I do hate the ‘let’s be nice to the homeless and rehabilitate the drug addicts’ attitude of the left, and I think we need much tougher stance on these issues, as a left leaning state.
But it was the people of the state who voted in prop 47, not the politicians. I think that was a big mistake.
And Cheese, I hear you man but you shouldn’t talk about burying bodies on a public forum, for obvious reasons!

This went from a “Missing Woman” post to a “Watch Out For This POS Thief” post.

the thing that bothers me most about this recent incident is that the thieves deliberately left that lit propane torch burning the wood on the deck..How heartless do you have to be to not only rob someone but then try to burn their house down…? I hope it will be held as another count against them when they have their day in court…And I can already hear some people laughing at my naivete but isn’t there a limit to what people can do to each other around here and still get away with it?

Ya I’m with u in this if it was summer they coulda burned out all of salmon creek homesteads. Wades been here since late 90s claiming to be a gangster whatever the ex said about him not being like this before is bullshit if that’s the same Evans I went to school with he’s changed a lot . If law enforcement doesn’t do anything it’s gonna get worse the more desperate they get every time they get out there starting over stealing a car to go rob again ,fuckin cowards

I’m sorry for their bad deeds, and they all need to be held accountable. I know Heather, she’s a nice girl that has been doing well. Sadly, it seems like she got off track. I’m glad she’s ok, and hopefully she makes better decisions .

She has nice teeth in the Facebook photos. If they are still in her head they probably won’t be for long, hanging out with present company.

Heather is a good person . !! Had helped many in the community while working for Waterfront. PLEASE dont judge her. ..You DONT know what DEMONS shes fighting. .ADDICTION is a life time battle. ..I PRAY that if she relapsed she will get help. ..She didn’t hurt anyone..
Property crimes aren’t ok either. ..But a persons life is much more important than any TV ..or whatever it is that was taken. …the Sheriff isn’t even sure if She was there and everyone wants blood. .

Property crimes do hurt people. It affects their feelings of safety and being violated emotionally. DRUG addiction and substance abuse disorder is a serious medical problem and should be addressed . She needs inpatient treatment. Not all drug addicts rob and terrorize the community.
