[UPDATE 3:15 p.m.] Law Enforcement Searching Salmon Creek After Thieves Seen on Camera

Multiple law enforcement officers –including deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol officers–are searching for at least one suspect and possibly several in a large theft off Thomas Road roughly near the school in the Salmon Creek area west of Miranda. The first call went into officers sometime before 6 a.m.

According to reports from those involved, the thieves went to a property with no one home but there were surveillance cameras. Those associated with the property alerted law enforcement and the neighbors.

When the suspects attempted to leave, officers were headed up Thomas Road. At least one vehicle turned around and fled back up the road possibly losing stolen items from a trailer.

Officers are with a white Dodge in the area known as Swinnockville. And other officers are combing the hills looking for the suspect(s). According to Troy Swinnock who spoke to officers, “[The] Suspect left truck running…it rolled down into tree.”

Note: earlier information about a vehicle stolen from a suspect proved incorrect and has been removed to reduce confusion in a hectic situation.

UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: According to a neighbor, the suspect showed up another neighbor’s home near the top of Salmon Creek on the Mattole watershed side saying there had been an accident and asking for a ride for he  and his girlfriend (The person he talked to didn’t see the girlfriend but he indicated she was back in the treeline.) The woman said she couldn’t help though she did give him some water. Meanwhile, law enforcement was notified and have been to the woman’s house. They are searching nearby.

How did the thieves know they were gone? Must have been watching 👀 Good thing they had cameras! Wish law enforcement could do more than catch, site and release.

I had a friend named Ricky one of the best souls that ever walked this earth. His real name was Richard everyone else called him Dick. I asked him once why he told everybody to call him Dick and only a few of us knew him as Ricky. He Said “Makes it easy to know who your true friends are everyone else thinks I am a dick.”

Why would southern Humboldt be crawling with thieves? Anything to do with the drug culture down there? I guess it’s ok if you make $$ from the dope .

Thieves and drug addicts are protected under California law. Drug addicts are thieves and thieves are drug addicts. We as a society are being manipulated.

Not all drug addicts are thieves dude. Government cheese is always generalizing masses of people to fit his commenting rhetoric. Some drug addicts just sell drugs to supply their habit and although rare and uncommon, have a moral compass. I knew some in humboldt when I was strung out and never stole anything from anyone myself during that dark time of my life. By your method of thinking no one will ever want to help the drug addicts because automatically they are had people who will steal from you. Not everyone’s a piece of shit just because they’re using. A lot of the time it’s because of how messed up their life is or was and it’s an escape from the trauma.

The old saying “shit flows downhill” applies here. The dung beetles/weasils/carrion feeders love these residents. Little tidbits of wealth from the growers(?) is deserved/owed to the predators.
The Constitution says its their “right” to steal from the rich under the premise-“pursuit of happiness!” Ha Ha!!!

Did the suspect show up at a neighbor near the robbed property, or in an area where the truck was abandoned? Near Swinnockville? Was the suspect that abandoned the white truck arrested?

I totally agree with you on the Fact “the Person” of interest is a real POS !!! However the sheriff’s DEPT can only do so much . One fact is the wonderful Governor made it easy for career criminals to walk again, and again, and Again . 2) the person who keeps posting bail , She also needs to be stopped from doing so ! The “ Good Ole California “ makes it so easy and it really sickens me .
I’m really surprised 😲 he hasn’t been put on a dirt hill pushing up daisies. One day he will go to the wrong property or wrong place . So people of Humboldt keep an eye 👁 on your property and your neighbors because he will just get out again and keep doing what he keeps doing !!!
