North Coast People’s Alliance Hosting ‘Informative Mixer’ July 24th

This is a press release from the North Coast People’s Alliance:

North Coast People's AllianceEUREKA, CA – The North Coast People’s Alliance invites community members to join them for an evening of camaraderie and education Tuesday, July 24th from 4-7pm at Siren’s Song Tavern at 325 2nd Street, Eureka. This event is open to people of all ages.

NCPA representatives will provide information and answer questions about local elected boards and committees that have seats coming open this November. This will be an informal, yet informative, gathering and an opportunity for attendees to learn about the boards and committees that make up the government of Humboldt County and how they can get involved in local governance.

“Many of these seats have historically been filled by people who have been appointed or run unopposed, and we want to make sure that members of our community know which seats are open, what is involved in serving on an elected board, how to start the process of running for office, and how our organization can help,” said Tamara MeFarland, Chair of the NCPA Steering Committee.

The boards that will be discussed include the Humboldt Community Services District, the Humboldt Bay Harbor Commission, the McKinleyville Community Services District, and all local city councils.

This event is being co-sponsored by Cooperation Humboldt, the Northcoast Environmental Center, the Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council, and Move to Amend.

The North Coast People’s Alliance is committed to working for social, economic, racial, and environmental justice in Humboldt County, with an emphasis on local electoral politics.

NCPA is a valuable organization, that, I believe, grew out of the support for Bernie Sanders. It helps progressive people to be educated, and activated to find ways to better wo-manifest the compassionate community we want! Support them and look for their events!!
