Structure Fire LaFeverFirefighters are battling a fully involved structure fire on Mad River Road north of Arcata. Initial scanner traffic indicates the fire is at 862 Mad River Road, where the incident commander reported the structure was fully involved upon arrival.

As crews worked to suppress the blaze, an additional water tender was requested from Kneeland to support firefighting operations. Other firefighters are still dealing with a fire that began about 6 p.m. by the Recology Building on Taylor Way.

This is a developing story. Information is based on emergency scanner traffic and may change as additional details become available. Redheaded Blackbelt will update this article as more information is confirmed.

DId no know until watchin a random video in my elder years that apparently the four leads or whatever they’re called that stick out from a battery or two leads, depending on the size of the battery if touching just a certain way can’t cause a fire. We used to have a metal can where people put their batteries in at our apartment dumpster area, but it’s been gone for a year or so apparently someone decided it isn’t necessary.
