Woman Seriously Injured After Fall from Historic Downtown Eureka Building Early Sunday
A woman was reportedly critically injured early Sunday morning, April 26, after falling from the upper floors of a historic building at the corner of E and Fourth streets in downtown Eureka on the 101 corridor.
According to first reports over the scanner, the incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. at the Commercial Building, a five-story office structure built in 1908 and located at 350 E Street. The woman reportedly went over the southeast corner of the building.
Information given over the scanner indicates she may have struck a tree during the fall before landing on the ground. The fall is estimated at approximately 50 feet.
Emergency responders found the woman unconscious but still breathing. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
This is a developing situation, and details remain limited. Information reported here is based on early accounts and may change as more facts become available.

Truly sad. The tree may have saved her life but a long road ahead at best.
You are truly a hostage of humboldt county’s 3rd rate Healthcare system. Providence is the worst hospital I have ever seen. Fortuna icu actually ignores there patients, I own property out Ruth lake. And got called homeless by the fortuna icu and the arrogant as shit doctor walked off. AND THAT WAS DURING A ATTEMPTED MURDER INVESTIGATION. They are total shit.
But the sad reality of humboldt is the police are to law enforcement, what providence is to Healthcare. Quit hiring hicks.
You mean recruit LEO from Oakland, SF, and points south? Bring in outsiders to discover that no one talks to cops in Humboldt, including those who poke bears
I’ve had nothing but positive experiences in Fortuna with the healthcare system and police. Can’t please everyone I guess?
You’re just never going to quit with the murder investigation thing. Can we move on from that please? I’ve not had any problems with myself or others that have been to that hospital.
Isn’t that the museum on the street level?
This building is at the corner of 4th and E. There are offices upstairs.
The museum I believe is on 3rd street a few blocks east of this location.
The museum is one block away at 3rd and E.
kinda suspicious if u asked me I like how there’s no investigation or nothing either obviously something’s up they’re covering something up we’re saving some rich motherfucker or politician’s ass
How do you know there isn’t one? They’re not going to give you real-time updates. You in a hurry to know?
Not the first tragedy from that building. I hope she is healing well. Some of you might get remember?
A lady shot a gentleman there. He ran down to the parking lot and she shot and killed him in the parking lot.
it was actually in the kitchen at Lius
The old building I drive by on the way to the Coop several times a week for groceries. I wonder who lives there? Those who do never come outside. I hope the lady who fell from the window will have a life when she recovers.
Mostly offices in that building which, by the way, used to house the newspaper.
Not sure you reported on why? Accident or suicide attempt ?
Maybe it isn’t any of our business. If she lives to recover I hope she has the support she needs.
Sunday at 12:25am?
I don’t see a tree near the southeast corner of the building, but there is one near the southwest corner and some on the west side. There is also a fire escape on the west side of the building. Unless this woman had access to the building while it was closed, It sure seems more likely that she climbed the fire escape possibly making this a failed suicide attempt.
I’m curious if she survived. She was last headed to st joesephs who has a questionable reputation at best! Just anther mystery that the police can’t solve!
I’m waiting for a “Paul Harvey” moment. You know, the rest of the story. I’m sorry, but if it bleeds, it leads. (My condolences and appreciation to all impacted).
