Road Work Ahead Public Works Blur

The Humboldt County Department of Public Works will be conducting work on Central Avenue on Saturday, March 7.

Road crews will be replacing traffic signals at the intersection of Central Avenue and Railroad Drive in McKinleyville.

Road work will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 4-way flashing stop signs. Please treat the intersection as a 4-way stop.

Travelers are asked to drive slowly and follow all traffic control devices and road signs in the project area. Thank you for your patience while repair work is in progress.

Humboldt County roads need a lot of work and Humboldt County Public Works acknowledges residents may encounter a maintenance issue on a county-maintained road. Community members are encouraged to submit a service request if they experience a maintenance issue. A request for service on a county road may be submitted to the Public Works Department’s Roads Division by calling 707-445-7421 or placing a request for service online.

If the new lights will make that intersection safer, I am for it. But I have not noticed any problems with the signals there now. If the old lights work replacing them with new ones is a waste of tax dollars.
