Trinity County Board Launches Nationwide Recruitment for County Administrative Officer

The Trinity County Board of Supervisors has initiated a nationwide recruitment process to fill the position of County Administrative Officer (CAO). In November, the current CAO, Trent Tuthill, announced he will not extend his employment contract past the current term, which ends in April 2026.

The recruitment is currently underway, with an initial application closing date of January 23, 2026. The Board is making every effort to complete the recruitment process and appoint a new CAO prior to April 2026.

As part of this process, the Board of Supervisors will continue to agendize closed session items related to recruitment activities, consistent with state law. Any proposed employment contract for the selected candidate will be brought forward for consideration during a future open session meeting of the Board.
