The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run began in 1966 as a winter training race created by Ford Hess, then head coach of Humboldt State’s Track and Field program. What started as a simple way to keep his athletes in shape quickly grew into a beloved community tradition. Six decades later, the race has earned national recognition and continues to bring runners, walkers, and families together on the North Coast.
This year, we’re proud to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Trinidad to Clam Beach Run—honoring its roots while looking forward to another great race on Trinidad’s beautiful coastline.
