[UPDATE] Vehicle Crashes 30 Feet Down Embankment Near Honeydew

traffic accidentA single-vehicle crash was reported around 7:30 this morning on Mattole Road, about two miles from the Honeydew Store. Fire personnel on scene said the vehicle went approximately 30 feet over the embankment and collided with a tree. Fire crews requested an ambulance to continue to the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page, the crash was on Mattole Road near Cartwright Road, roughly 150 yards up the hill from the intersection.

UPDATE: Minor injuries, according to the CHP CAD.

I sure hope the person that went off the road and hit a tree is ok. 30 feet and then a tree stops you quickly is not good. Praying for the best outcome possible.

I know that spot. They’re lucky they only went 30′ down the hill and not 300′. Frost likes to linger on the road up the hill, especially on the shady side, if it was present and contributed to the accident.
