Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park Closed Until June 25 Due to Landslide on Highway 36
Press release from the California Department of Parks and Recreation:
California State Parks (California Department of Parks and Recreation)
Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park campground, visitor center, and day-use area will be closed until June 25, 2025, due to the full road closure on Highway 36. The closure is located .5 miles west of the campground entrance and is a result of an active landslide. Campground reservations will be canceled and refunded through ReserveCalifornia. North Coast Redwoods District leadership are reminding the public to stay away from the area for safety purposes. Cheatham Grove is not affected by the road closure as it is located west of the landslide.
California State Parks will apprise the public about the estimated facilities reopening as soon as the assessment and road re-opening plan is determined by Caltrans (California Department of Transportation). Up-to-date information will be provided at the park’s website: parks.ca.gov/GrizzlyCreek. The public is also urged to check road closures at Caltrans’ website: QuickMap.dot.ca.gov.

Why close Grizzly Creek campground when folks can get to it coming in from another direction. I guess maybe they are worried about camper safety if someone is injured and needs to go to the hospital. I feel sorry for everyone who has reservations to visit that nice spot.
June 25 seems too optimistic.
I agree!
