[Update: Unoccupied] Vehicle Reportedly Over Embankment on Sprowl Creek Road Near Nielsen Ranch

A vehicle reportedly went over an embankment early Thursday morning near the intersection of Sprowl Creek Road and Moody Road, in the vicinity of the Nielsen Ranch area south of Garberville.
According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page, the crash was reported at approximately 6:44 a.m. The reporting party indicated the vehicle had gone off the roadway and landed about 20 feet down an embankment. Due to limited cell service at the scene, the individual had to drive a mile to find reception and report the incident.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the area, and a CHP unit was assigned and en route by 6:47 a.m. Additional details, including any injuries or the number of individuals involved, have not yet been released.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
Update 7:40 a.m.: Based on scanner traffic, it appears the vehicle, a GMC 1500 pickup, was unoccupied. Law enforcement officers are checking local hospitals and the registered owners address as they follow up on this investigation.
A tow truck has been requested from Redwood Towing with a 35 to 40-minute response time as of the dispatch.

I sure hope the driver is ok along with anyone else that may have been in the pickup. I guess it is possible the driver got out and climbed the bank and a passing motorist picked him up. We also need better cell service in areas where there is spotty communications. If the driver was severely injured time is very important to call for emergency medical help.
I recall many of these situations where someone drunk crashes then gets the hell out of there &theyll come claim their rig once sobered up.
The driver’s fine, apparently they fell asleep and went off the side of the road. They should have notified LE Though, would have saved them a couple broken windows..
