Remains Found Near Ukiah Identified as Missing Man

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has identified human remains discovered on March 22, 2025, near Low Gap Road in Ukiah as belonging to Angel Murguia-Martinez, a 25-year-old man from Ukiah.

Murguia-Martinez had been reported missing to the Ukiah Police Department in February 2024. His remains were found by members of a local nonprofit group conducting a trash cleanup in the area. Deputies responded to the scene and confirmed the discovery, launching a coroner’s investigation to determine the identity and circumstances surrounding his death.
According to an updated press release issued by MCSO on March 27, 2025, a forensic autopsy was conducted on March 24, and medical records from a known missing person were used to confirm the decedent’s identity. His legal next of kin have been notified.
The official cause and manner of death remain undetermined, pending further forensic examination and test results. However, authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected at this time.
