A deadly multi-vehicle crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. this evening on Highway 20 near the Lake-Colusa County line on on the Colusa side and close to the Judge Davis Trailhead.

Initial reports from emergency responders over the scanner indicate two vehicles went off the roadway. One vehicle came to rest on its side. Other reports on social media say there were more than two vehicles

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual sustained major injuries, and a third person was described as walking wounded.

Two air ambulances were requested, with Wilbur Springs reported as the landing zone. Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to the incident.

Motorists in the area should expect delays as emergency vehicles and first responders continue to investigate and clear the scene.

If that picture does not make you drive carefully on Highway 20, I don’t know what will. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person killed. I pray the others injured will make a complete recovery. A big thank you to the first responders and air ambulances for their heart wrenching work at the scene.

Nearly every time I cross over from 101 to Interstate 5 I experience driver’s being impatient. I’m driving 60 mph and a driver can’t stand being behind me. They pass on curves, they flash their lights beep their horns and there isn’t anywhere for me to pull over. What is their hurry? One would think they have an emergency. Invariable they meet up behind a semi doing 45 mph. And here I am right behind them. Must be disappointing for them. When a Passing Lane opens up It’s petal to the floor and the race is back on. In this case one person loses their life, one is seriously hurt and that doesn’t even included the destroyed vehicles. Is that worth driving like you are a NASCAR race?

There are many many pullouts on 20 from 101 to i5 the fact that people do not use them is what causes people to drive with more aggression . Many reasons a person might not wish to be behind another driver one of which is those drivers who always are tapping their brakes , that is a real pet peeve of mine and i have been known to pass on a inside when stuck behind drivers constantly taping their brakes at every curve every slight dip in the road . This was when i was younger , since learning the bumper tap / pit i no longer pass on inside i just trade a bit o paint and they get the message
