The Garberville Veterans Association will be hosting its annual free Thanksgiving community meal at the Mateel Community Center in Redway, CA on Thursday, November 28th starting at noon.

The association has partnered with Diestel Farms to provide 460 pounds of turkey for the meal.

This community dinner is a way for the brave men and women who serve our country to continue their work of making this world and our community a better place. “We served our country, but part of our oath was to serve the community as well. So that’s what I’m doing – serving the community, everyone, rich or poor” said Tom Pietila of the Garberville Veterans Association.

Volunteers are needed on Thanksgiving morning to help with food preparation, serving, and cleanup. Those interested in volunteering can show up at the Mateel Community Center starting at 9am on November 28th.

“There’s no reason to stay home alone and not have a good feast for Thanksgiving,” added Pietila. “So just show up here from noon on and just have a good meal.”

The Garberville Veterans Association Thanksgiving event is a longstanding tradition that brings the community together for a free holiday meal. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the feast and camaraderie.
