COVID-19 Cases Surge Locally as Pandemic Fatigue Persists Amid Summer Gatherings

As Humboldt County summer fun winds down, and students begin to return to the area for the fall semester, the North Coast is seeing an influx of COVID-19 cases related to a summer surge reminiscent of previous COVID summers – but, locals are increasingly less tolerant of disease prevention protocol as pandemic fatigue staggers on through a fifth summer of testing, illness, and in some cases, hospitalization and even deaths. This increase in novel coronavirus cases comes alongside the preexisting COVID fatigue that has settled in on Humboldt like coastal fog.
From festivals and concerts to street markets and private celebrations, locals have been enjoying their summer fun to the maximum, despite an ongoing epidemic. In recent weeks, it seems like everyone knows someone who has had the novel Coronavirus. One person we spoke to who had attended a large music festival in the second half of July, found themselves dehydrated and very, very ill with, you guessed it… COVID-19, and then attended a second festival days after the diagnosis received at a local ER. “It was bad,” they said, later adding hyperbolically, “…almost died.”
The local party-goer explained that they rebounded from the symptoms – which were severe enough at the time to prompt a visit to the emergency room – within a few short days, and had bounced back into action at another festival the very next week. Did they mask up? Not even a little… When asked if they had recovered so quickly due to having taken Paxlovid, a medication which can be used to lessen the severity and duration of COVID illness, they responded in text, “No I didn’t. Fk that COVID drug.”
Hospitalizations For Versus With COVID-19
At a time when science related to vaccines and viral mutations are often disputed by folks who remain unconvinced of the virtues of modern science, any inconsistency in these reported numbers can contribute to an unfortunate misunderstanding of those hospitalization counts, and can directly and negatively shape their ability to trust the numbers being offered up by the state, or even from local medical officials.
On July 27, data on COVID-19 hospitalizations from individual counties provided to the state shows a total of 10 “confirmed hospitalized” of community members with a COVID-19 infection. However, in response to our inquiry about this number to local officials at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for clarification, we were informed that as of Monday, August 5th, according to local data, the DHHS Communications Group told us, “we currently have one person in the hospital with COVID locally.”

The most recent data available on COVID-19 hospitalizations locally shows 8 community members who are currently hospitalized in the county “with” a COVID-19 infection, as opposed to “for” a COVID-19 infection.
Looking for clarification, we inquired with DHHS locally, asking why there would be a difference in the numbers. “What we track are patients who are hospitalized because of COVID and being treated for COVID,” explained Christine Messinger from the DHHS Communications Group in response to our email follow-up on the difference in data. Messinger said that locally, they are not reporting every COVID-19 infection that is in hospital locally – only the ones which are hospitalized for COVID specifically. She wrote, “What this dashboard shows is people who are in the hospital and also happen to test positive for COVID,” as opposed to only reporting those seeking treatment for the virus.
This apparent discrepancy in reported numbers may be problematic when considering that COVID-19 stats made public for the purpose of informing people of the spread of disease in their community, may actually lend to scrutiny or disbelief of those numbers – which are not inaccurate, but simply reflect different data.
Messinger explained that every person coming to a hospital for care is tested for COVID automatically, in order to isolate any infection and prevent spread of the virus to other patients. “When a patient is admitted into the hospital, they are tested for COVID, regardless of symptoms, as part of the admission process. The hospitals use PCR tests which are more sensitive and show positive for longer than rapid tests,” Messinger said. “If an individual tests positive, they are put into isolation to avoid potentially spreading COVID even if they are not displaying symptoms.”
If these numbers presented by the state appear to differ widely from that of our local county officials, is it any wonder that at a ground level there is confusion lending to distrust of the Health Department’s mantra which continues to reiterate the dangers of spread of disease on a local level? Surely, a level of public skepticism of these statistics, at least in part due to the lack of clarity around them, is understandable, yet, according to doctors across the board there is reason for proactive public response to curb the spread of disease, in considering the circumstances of living during an episode of severe viral disease, i.e. widespread disease, or an international pandemic.
According to Public Health Officer Dr. Candy Stockton, “We have had five deaths from COVID-19 this year, one of which occurred between June 1 and July 27.” As for our local summer surge and the resulting hospital care needed, Dr. Stockton confirms that as of Monday, August 5th, one person was “hospitalized with COVID locally” and advises that the risk of “developing serious illness/dying is lower for vaccinated individuals, but individuals who are vaccinated can still develop serious illness.”
Deaths attributed to COVID-19 in California since last October show a spike in January, consistent with the winter surge that has been documented each year since the start of pandemic, but also reflects a second smaller surge in cases during the summer, shown above. This double peak in data is not reflected with Influenza statistics, which only show a surge in flu cases in the winter months, at about half the rate of deaths attributed to COVID-19.***
In a time when the novel coronavirus continues to mutate and circulate in social circles which provide the atmosphere for replications and virulent spread of disease, such as with festivals and other gatherings of people in large groups, disease prevention awareness seems to have fallen to the wayside in favor of a return to a more casual summertime vibe.
Stocked noted that in terms of public awareness and the ability of individuals to protect against spread of COVID-19, or other respiratory illnesses, that “Respiratory viruses (including influenza, COVID-19 and RSV) continue to circulate.” Dr. Stockton responded via email Monday morning, “Individuals who are over 65 and those with weakened immune systems have an increased risk of serious illness and/or death from respiratory viruses.”
Vaxxed Or Laxed?
With a combination of many locals having some level of “natural immunity” bolstered by previous infection, some protected by vaccination and others covered by a combination of both, Humboldt’s varying degrees of immunity have been challenged by the increase in community spread of the virus since early summer as people continue to relax and let go of efforts to prevent disease.
According to the CDC, it is recommended that “everyone ages 6 months and older receive an updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious outcomes of COVID-19 this fall and winter” and adds, “whether or not they have ever previously been vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine.”

According to the DHHS COVID-19 Vaccine Progress Dashboard Data by ZIP Code, Humboldt’s zip codes with the most up to date vaccinated residents are in Arcata with 18%, Trinidad and Blue Lake are both at 28%, and with the highest rate of full vaccinated community members, Bayside is nearly at 35%.
By the numbers, Nor Cal counties are struggling to keep up the vaccination pace, with the majority of folks falling behind with booster shots, but still reflects an average slightly better than the state-wide “up to date” fully vaccinated group.
When asked for input regarding community awareness of the ongoing epidemic and regarding local community rates of infection, Dr. Stockton encouraged proactive masking and doubled down on recommending vaccination. Dr. Stockton wrote, “We continue to encourage staying up to date with all recommended vaccines and practicing good hygiene (particularly hand washing and cleaning frequently touched surfaces). Staying in when you are sick, or wearing a well-fitting mask in public if you cannot stay in, can help prevent spreading illness to people at higher risk.”
Looking at the numbers, in Northern California’s Emerald Counties – Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity – vaccination rates vary. In the first two, the data reflects vaccination rates on par with the state average, which currently says 14.9% of California is “up to date” with the poke—nearly 6 million Californians. But Del Norte and Trinity are much lower.
Humboldt has 24,919 community members who have received the most recent booster shot recommended for their age, making that 18.3% of the county is up to date with boosters. To the south, Mendocino has nearly 13,000 residents up to date, totaling 14.6% of the county. While Trinity is at 8.6% up to date and to our north, Del Norte, the lowest of the counties, is slightly over 8% fully vaccinated.
The options for updated COVID-19 vaccines are expected to be produced by Moderna, Novavax, and Pfizer later this year, according to a public notice issued in June, by the CDC. The notice strongly advises that folks get their boosters lined up as soon as they are available this coming fall, due to the evolving nature of the virus, and the increasing infection rates doctors are seeing this summer.
The CDC’s advice reads, “The virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, is always changing and protection from COVID-19 vaccines declines over time. Receiving an updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine can restore and enhance protection against the virus variants currently responsible for most infections and hospitalizations in the United States.” Addressing concerns of those who are battling COVID-19 already, and have justifiable concerns about contracting the often puzzling and debilitating “long COVID-19” which languishes in the body for months on end and is often known to leave lasting ailments in its wake, the CDC says a vaccination can also help prevent long COVID. “COVID-19 vaccination also reduces the chance of suffering the effects of Long COVID, which can develop during or following acute infection and last for an extended duration.”
Emphasizing that the science is in on the benefits of getting the poke (and follow-up poke for a boost of protection), the CDC underscores the data-proven effectiveness of vaccines, saying, “Last season, people who received a 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine saw greater protection against illness and hospitalization than those who did not receive a 2023-2024 vaccine. To date, hundreds of millions of people have safely received a COVID-19 vaccine under the most intense vaccine safety monitoring in United States history.”
Testing, testing…
According to California’s COVID-19 data tracker, infections are on the rise, while a summer surge appears to be replicating past summer data but thankfully, to a lesser degree. Humboldt’s Health Officer indicated that there has been an increase in infection rates locally, in keeping with COVID’s previous pattern of increased infections in summer months.
A local Public Health Laboratory Director explained that by sampling the local waste-water, COVID-19 infection rates can be estimated based on the levels of the infection found in our sewage. We asked for more information about the waste water testing method, and Public Health Laboratory Director Pepper Stockton was able to explain that the method “began as part of a statewide monitoring program.” Stockton told us, “Wastewater testing is done on a regular schedule with sampling on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.”
The county began using this method in January 2022, and has found the method to be accurate and helpful in assessing community spread of the virus. The wastewater sampling method is an efficient way of testing an entire population of a given area to monitor the degree of infection generally, and can be useful for public health officials as they assess the changing pandemic and continue to assess the risk posed to the public. Stockton added, “It took some time for the state to develop the testing, but it has been rolled out statewide.”
Two graphs from California Department of Public Health show the current rise in COVID-19 infections nearing the 15% mark, compared to all previous seasons of COVID-19 data collected. This summer, the COVID infection rate is substantially higher than the 2022-23 data, with 2023-24 at 14.3% at the start of August, while last year at the same time, the infection rate was 9.4% for the same 7 day period.*
Self-tests, or at-home tests, are antigen tests that can be used anywhere, and are convenient for getting a quick result without having to go to a testing site. Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs), including PCR tests, are more likely to detect the virus than antigen tests, according to the CDC. NAATs tests are considered the “gold standard” for COVID-19 testing, but are not always accessible. Antigen tests, like the ones you can purchase at CVS or Walgreens, are rapid tests that usually produce results in 15-30 minutes. Positive results are accurate and reliable, but in general, “antigen tests are less likely to detect the virus than NAAT tests, especially when symptoms are not present” according to the CDC page on COVID testing.
The experts at the CDC point out, “a single negative antigen test cannot rule out infection,” and so the FDA recommends “2 negative antigen tests for individuals with symptoms or 3 antigen tests for those without symptoms, performed 48 hours apart” in order to be sure.
Exposure and Precautions
If you are exposed to COVID, or to a person who is ill with a respiratory virus, it is recommended to test for COVID-19, and if you have a fever, to “stay home and away from others,” even if you do not have other symptoms. The CDC also advises folks who are not symptomatic but are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 infection and would benefit from treatment” (meaning antiviral medicines) should test within 5 days of direct exposure. The CDC website offers current data that shows “more than 81% of COVID-19 deaths occur in people over age 65,” and that the number of “deaths among people over age 65 is 97 times higher” than among people ages 18-29 years old.
“In 2023, more than 916,300 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19 and more than 75,500 people died from COVID-19. During the 2023-2024 flu season, more than 44,900 people are estimated to have died from flu complications.” – CDC
Under a heading reading “Risk factors for getting very sick with COVID-19,” the CDC web page explains that some people “are at increased risk of getting very sick or dying from COVID-19 because of where they live or work, or because they can’t get health care. This includes many people from racial and ethnic minority groups and people with disabilities.”

Emergency room visits with COVID-19 are “low” in California, according to data provided by the CDC, which also reflects 547 deaths in the state over the past three months, attributed to COVID-19. While death rates associated with COVID have improved significantly from previous years, as of June 1, 2024, nearly 1.2 million people have died of COVID-19 in the U.S. from the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic in January of 2020.
For folks who are already sick, the first piece of advice offered by the CDC is to stay home, stay away from others, and to seek treatment if you have risk factors that could contribute to more severe illness. Medical professionals in general, and those at the CDC strongly urge sick people to stay home “until you have been fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication and other symptoms are mild and improving.”
California’s new “SMARTER” plan to address COVID-19 involves leveraging lessons learned in the past few years about how the virus works, and how prevention methods can be used more effectively. “We’re using the lessons of the last two years to prepare for future COVID-19 surges or variants,” reads the Smarter Plan outline. “Throughout the pandemic we have leaned on science and relied on tools that create protection. This includes vaccines, masks, tests, quarantine, improving ventilation, and new therapeutics.”
Advice issued by both the CDC and the CDPH still recommends taking measures to distance and mask up if you have been exposed, or if you are ill. If you test positive, but have no symptoms, it is still advised to wear a mask around others indoors for 10 days from the onset of symptoms or positive test date. In some cases, the virus may generate symptoms after the 10-day mark, over a week after the initial exposure. For this reason, the CDC recommends masking and distancing as a precaution.
Avoid High-Risk Individuals. For 10 days, avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe COVID-19, including the elderly, those in congregate care facilities, and individuals with immunocompromising conditions. Interestingly, the infectious period can start 2 days before symptoms appear and can last up to 10 days.

The California Department of Public Health advises people who are ill to seek treatment, stating, “If you have symptoms, particularly if you are at higher risk for severe COVID-19, speak with a healthcare provider as soon as you test positive. You may be eligible for antiviral medicines or other treatments for COVID-19. COVID-19 antiviral medicines work best if taken as soon as possible, and within 5-7 days from when symptoms start.”
For the purpose of counting days until a person has cleared the 10-day mark, Day 0 is the day of “your last exposure to someone with COVID-19” while Day 1 is considered the “first full day after your last exposure.” The virus is known to persist after the 10-day mark in some cases, which may still bring symptoms into the second week of an infection.
If you have symptoms, especially if you are at higher risk for severe COVID-19, consult a healthcare provider immediately. You may be eligible for antiviral medicines or other treatments, which are most effective when taken within 5-7 days of symptom onset.
According to a statement offered in June by CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen, “Our top recommendation for protecting yourself and your loved ones from respiratory illness is to get vaccinated.” Mandy Cohen, M.D., M.P.H. added, “Make a plan now for you and your family to get both updated flu and COVID vaccines this fall, ahead of the respiratory virus season.”

So now will come the deluge from “vaccines are more dangerous than the disease” people with their “proof” from anti vax websites. Such are a fact of life these days and all anyone can do is protect themselves according to their own judgement. For me, a vaccination, even if only somewhat protective and making me feel a bit off for a couple of days, is worth taking to reduce the odds of being as sick as a dog for two to three weeks.
I caught the Delta strain in 2021, was sick as a dog for about 3 days. Since then I haven’t had a single cold, not even a sniffle. I agree that all anyone can do is protect themselves according to their own judgment. Personally, I’m glad I didn’t take the vaccine. But to each their own.
Well, by that logic, I got vaccinated and a booster. I think maybe two. I never got covid nor a cold since then. If one is toting up vaccine success based on personal experience, vaccination one-ups your none vacination experience.
However that is why medical science doesn’t rely on one person’s experience. It looks at thousands and thousands. Because a vaccine is just that… the odds are better, just better, with vaccination. Not guaranteed. And certainly not by anecdote.
“The recent medical controversy over whether vaccinations cause autism reveals a habit of human cognition—thinking anecdotally comes naturally, whereas thinking scientifically does not… The reason for this cognitive disconnect is that we have evolved brains that pay attention to anecdotes because false positives (believing there is a connection between A and B when there is not) are usually harmless, whereas false negatives (believing there is no connection between A and B when there is) may take you out of the gene pool… Superstition and belief in magic are millions of years old, whereas science, with its methods of controlling for intervening variables to circumvent false positives, is only a few hundred years old. So it is that any medical huckster promising that A will cure B has only to advertise a handful of successful anecdotes in the form of testimonials.”

PFAUCI PFARTS PFIZER
Those with 4 plus doses are 2.5X more likely to contract Covid 19… Have a great day!
Care to provide a reference for that?
And bear in mind, those who understand they are at greatest risk are more likely to get vaccinated.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-vaccine-booster-shot-infection-rate/
And that article also stays “For the week of April 23, it said the rate of COVID-19 infections among boosted Americans was 119 cases per 100,000 people. That was more than double the rate of infections in those who were vaccinated but unboosted, but a fraction of the levels among unvaccinated Americans.” Also one week does not make a conclusion.
A year later “People who were vaccinated but had not received the updated booster were compared to those who got the updated booster in the previous two to three months. Those who hadn’t received the updated booster had their last vaccine dose about 13 months ago, Ruth Link-Gelles, who heads the CDC’s vaccine effectiveness program, said on the call.
The protection provided by the booster is on par with what’s typically seen with the flu vaccine. Flu vaccine effectiveness varies from season to season, but the shots reduce the risk of the flu by 40% to 60%, according to the CDC.”

Quit with the vaccine crap, look up the definition of vaccine please!
Time to hop in the way back machine , because they literally changed the definition to suit the narrative!
Not kidding. It’s diabolical.

You won’t get sick, you won’t be hospitalized you won’t die.
– some Rachel of Rhodes Scholar
You guys are dense af. Did you even pass high school biology?
“Immunity” is not absolute, it’s just a measure of the body’s ability to resist infection. Vaccines are designed to improve your immunity. Maybe a lot maybe a bit, maybe permanently or not so much. Depends a lot on the pathogen and other factors.
Nothing has changed about any of this except for the need to explain it to morons who think there’s a giant conspiracy afoot.
It’s an unnerving dystopian nightmare.
Aren’t all the unvaccinated supposed to be gone by now?
That is what they claimed…
You’re correct the article will unleash the covidiots spouting nonsense.
The unfortunate part of it is the unassuming regular folks who would normally follow scientifically proven medical advice but who are dissuaded by the barrage of misinformation and whacko conspiracy theories.
Are you claiming that COVID science is settled?
Getting vaccinated is proven to be more protective of personal health and community health than not getting vaccinated. This is true of polio, measles, covid and a host of other diseases. It’s that simple.
Can you provide any studies that show that. Those vaccines have been shown to provide some measure of protection against the specific disease that they target but I have been unable to find any studies that show that any vaccines provide any measure of improved overall health
Not getting polio improves personal and community health.
As I said, it’s that simple.
And our local Public Health part of the problem.
The epidemic we are experiencing is obesity and drug addiction. We need to be educating society on how to be healthy and get the processed food out of the grocery stores. Vaccines have and will continue to be affective in many cases but if you’re fat, lazy and have a poor diet, nothing is going to save you, except a whole new lifestyle.
70 % of the food in any grocery store is ultra processed and basically shouldn’t be consumed. Costco sells a lot of garbage. It sells so they sell it. Changing your lifestyle is the hardest thing. Diabetes and COPD can almost entirely be controlled with lifestyle changes but that’s harder than drugs and dialysis and transplant….especially when someone else is paying for it.
Or months, or years. Long COVID can be debilitating and it doesn’t always go away. At least, not so far.
These numbers seem pretty low. I didn’t read the whole article but I’m not terrible worried, especially at outdoor events.
Ok great for you but sad that those over 60 are more likely to get seriously ill or a single patently with out sick leave so i guess elderly are suppose to be even more reclusive than the shut in lives already so many are stuck in? I’m not for over vaccinations and do wish folks would consider wearing a damn mask if they are sick or recently sick and going out in public.
It’s called endemic, and this whole mess is playing out EXACTLY as predicted.
“At this point, COVID-19 can be described as endemic throughout the world,” Aron Hall, the deputy director for science at the CDC’s corona virus and other respiratory viruses division, told NPR in an interview. That means, essentially, that COVID is here to stay in predictable ways.”3 days ago
The outcomes -as with all common infectious agents- are lifestyle dependent! You hold the key; you actually aren’t a helpless victim to Fauci’s diabolical gain of function disaster. Fck him. And yes, fck the experimental highly dangerous paxlovid!
It’s exhausting that these discussions are still happening . Not news!!!!
The “vaccines ” (just like the useless annual flu shot) are a crap shoot, and an assault on your immune system. The naivety and willingness to subject to a mRna gene therapy over and over and over again, while according to this report ” individuals who are vaccinated can still develop serious illness.”is pathetic! If it wasn’t so sad it might be funny.
Obesity/overweight is the number 1 predictor of poor outcome, with type 2 diabetes a close second. Both are lifestyle dependent disorders. Use nature’s 7 doctors: air, water, sunshine, laughter, sleep, regular exercise and regular (restricted) diet. Everyone has had four years to take personal responsibility for their health but from the looks of it, very few have gotten the memo.
Sure. Just like with Measles, Polio, Mumps, etc. We live the lives we live because of vaccines. “Sunshine” won’t do it.
I remember suffering – and I do mean suffering – from Mumps, Measles, and Chicken Pox when I was a little tyke back in the 1950s. Believe me, I would have gladly traded those miserable weeks-long experiences for quick and easy vaccinations.
The real sad part is that those “usual childhood diseases” could still leave damage even if they didn’t kill. I had kidney infection, pneumonia and encephalitis as a consequence of them. While my sister, who seemed to recover easily, turned out to have a partial hearing loss discovered years later.
Frankly the stupidest saying in the world is “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Maybe mentally but physically it’s nonsense. By that reasoning, a man who lost a leg to infection is supposedly stronger than a man who didn’t.
Sorry you had such severe cases.
Measles is especially vicious as it wipes out a lot of immunity gained from experiencing other illnesses. And you have to experience each one again to recover it. My case of measles was not particularly bad if I remember but I was at an age where the immune system was still developing and I caught every common disease all over again all at once afterwards.
And then there are the nasty viruses that damage organs but aren’t obvious until you get older. My mother and her sister both needed heart valve replacement in their 50s supposedly due to a childhood virus.
I’ve come to the conclusion that avoiding such acute illness is important. I don’t get every vaccine or for that matter booster that comes along but I won’t dismiss them because the disease is not likely to kill me outright. Diseases have lots of nasty effects besides death.
I got all those too in 1950s. I don’t remember any real misery other than not being able to go outside or play with friends. Mumps made me look funny. Measles and Chicken Pox made a few itchy sores — Calamine lotion and baths with a cup of Clorox Bleach solved those problems quick. The baths with a cup of Clorox Bleach also help with Poison Oak!
I still have part of the circle on my arm from the polio vaccine. I had the measles and chicken pox back to back. My mother would separate my sisters and me in one bedroom thinking that would work. It did not. She did that with every illness we got, even the flu.
We grew up a military family and they pulled us out of classes and lined us up in the gym to give us vaccines. There was no sign up sheets or waivers to not have the vaccine. We were Army and that’s what happened. No questions…you got vaccines…
The measles polio & mumps vaccines are entirely different than this Covid mRna gene-therapy mumbo jumbo.
Seriously, if the polio vaccine just made sure you only got a small case of it and could still transmit it to others we’d all be okay with that ??
I swear to God nobody uses their brain anymore!
We were okay with it. Until the dramatic reduction in exposure made the riskier attenuated live virus vaccine obsolete in the US. And we switched to the current much safer vaccine.
However in places where polio is still common and they are too poor to afford the less risky vaccine, they do still use it. A very few do get polio from it but because so many more don’t develop a full blown case of polio and instead develop immunity, it is still a huge benefit to them
Using your brain to read about the history of polio vaccination is a good thing.
Trust me I’ve done the deep dive. First off and most important is the testing that went into the polio vaccine excess of 15 years and development and testing; with animal testing BEFORE they tested it on humans not simultaneously. And it offers LIFETIME IMMUNITY. The polio vaccine was never sold as a product that would allow you to contract a moderate case of polio . And if you think that’s the case I’d love to see the source.
good Lord .
Comparing polio vaccine and literal (statistically speaking) elimination from Earth efforts to those corny covid jabs is just more pathetic ness.
You brought the comparison into the thread. I just said you had it wrong about being willing to use it if some developed polio from it. But because the covid virus mutates a lot and the immune system, vaccinated or not, does not convey long term protection is not a reason to avoid it.
But now that you added another statement about the polio accine conferring life long immunity, I can say you are wrong about that too.. The shot given in the US (inactivated polio vaccine) does not last lifetime. Under certain circumstances, a polio booster is given. We don’t need it here usually because we are rarely exposed to it so a reduced immunity from a childhood vaccine is not needed. Only if you go to someplace where it is common is a booster recommended. I believe the attenuated live virus vaccine does give lifelong immunity but it has its dangers.
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/polio/hcp/effectiveness-duration-protection.html
Um….Mike brought the ridiculous polio/measles comparison into the thread, not me.
And regarding the efficacy of the polio vaccine (quibbling over whether we need a booster to travel internationally) that is such a stretch into far left field I don’t have the energy to run out there.
Maybe y’all can grab a polio booster on your way to get your 7th covid shot….
If you think the COVID mRNA vaccines are “gene therapy” then you either didn’t do dive deep enough or more likely were just in over your head.
You don’t understand the difference between DNA and RNA, or the process of messenger RNA transcription.
The vaccine doesn’t change your “genes”. The more you repeat this the more you are revealing your ignorance.
I never said “gene therapy,” or that the injections are going to “change your genes.” ,( …though they might ) because while most institutions are now back-pedalling from that reality, trying to wiggle their way out of that connection, the term “gene therapy” represents a host of approaches. They can involve DNA or mRNA. That’s just science. I’m sorry that offends you, but please don’t put words in my mouth.
It is a mRna therapy – and the gist of that
problem is that by triggering our body to simply create spike proteins “similar to Sars ” it generates a vastly different and unpredictable response within the human body than traditional vaccines which trigger an *actual* immune response.
But loads of y’all still want to sign up to be lab monkey for the guess-work, random, and as yet poorly researched “spike protein production” jabs, (that in no way confers immunity to Covid-19 and in fact actually triggers many debilitating and disabling reactions) have at it!
Why does it bother people so much that some are not comfortable acquiescing to this ridiculous ineffective injection schedule with the documented high risk of clots, strokes, turbo cancers etc etc,.? Especially juxtaposed against the actual low risk of contracting Covid , of which virtually all of us (vaxed or not) are now aware, and the fact that receiving the injections does not stop transmission. Blinders on I guess.
mRna technology has a long and largely failed history. It was dredged out of the dustbin and revived for financial gain as something to throw at the Corona, because -as we all know- developing actual “vaccines” for viruses is virtually impossible due to their highly transient nature.
Imo the proof is in the pudding. Sure sounds like a lot of people missed fauci’s hearing. ? The guy is a goof up the pandemic protocols were based on 100% malarkey!
Didn’t take the Measles shot but was out of school for a week and coated in calamine lotion.
Covid-19 (and variants) are now a ‘native virus’. Covid is also now endemic among wild animals. So far in humans… about a .3% fatality rate.
(That translates to about 1 million dead in the USA).
Not vaccinated (?)… take your chances.
Think you misplaced the decimal point.
In both places where you captioned the photo as “deaths attributed to covid 19” the charts seem to show test positivity rates and one chart says it’s deaths from influenza
My apologies. I put the same caption in on two different sets of graphs. That’s been fixed now.
The full caption on the COVID graph and the Influenza Graph speaks about the influenza graph, too. “Deaths attributed to COVID-19 in California since last October show a spike in January, consistent with the winter surge that has been documented each year since the start of pandemic, but also reflects a second smaller surge in cases during the summer, shown above. This double peak in data is not reflected with Influenza statistics, which only show a surge in flu cases in the winter months, at about half the rate of deaths attributed to COVID-19.”
Thanks Kym, the left graph in that first picture still appears to be for test positivity for covid rather than deaths
exactly. the caption is still wrong.
You are right! I had to go see my mom yesterday right after I saw this and it fell off my radar. I checked with Ryan this morning and I had somehow (I’m not sure how) put in the wrong graph. The correct graph is up now.
Thank you for catching my error.
Sweet Kym, thanks again for all the great work you do
Thank you for the keen review! We have corrected the graphs embedded there in the ‘deaths’ data charts, and made sure the caption corresponds accurately. We very much appreciate you giving us the heads up. 😉
My pleasure, appreciate the effort you all put in. The least we can do is help you outsource some of the copy editing!
Kym,
Tapping the red text gets you to here…
https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Respiratory-Viruses/RespiratoryDashboard.aspx
Which shows this set of covid graphs showing…
Covid deaths as a percentage of total deaths and positive covid tests, as a percentage of total covid tests performed…
There is also a set of corresponding influenza graphs…
Also found…
(How does this change things…???)
In the period between 10-1-2023 to 8-3- 2024… (adjusted)
10.17 TIMES as many covid tests were performed, than influenza tests…
6,185,057 (adjusted) covid tests, compared to only 608,367 influenza tests…!!!
Why would this be…???
It’s unbalanced testing.
Such unbalanced testing will create unbalanced conclusions.
Covid tests, and influenza tests would have to be done side by side, in all patients tested, to reach proper influenza vs covid comparisons.
But that isn’t what is happening.
Where are the tests for co-infections…???
There are none.
(All patients admitted to a hospital, for any reason, asymptomatic, or not, are tested, (screened), for covid, …)
Not so for influenza…
That will skew the numbers, and any associated conclusions.
For the patients presenting with a respiratory issue…
The SOP is to test first for covid, and if positive, no further respiratory virus tests are performed, and the diagnosis is concluded to be covid alone, but covid alone, is not always the whole truth in every case.
Tests for influenza are only performed if initial covid tests come back negative, if they are performed at all…
Co infections happen frequently, but are not being properly diagnosed.
This deceptively makes covid look more comparatively serious than it really is, as covid co occuring with another respiratory virus like influenza or RSV, will clearly take a greater toll on patients than covid alone, but will misleadingly be attributed to covid alone.
This is deceptive.
The incidence of co-infections is not being properly established.
Excellent comment — thank you.
Thank you.
Influenza…
Tests performed, covid vs influenza…
“COVID CASE IS SURGE LOCALLY AS ELECTION DAY DRAWS NEAR!!”
Frfy.
…but nothing to do with Northern Nights, Roll on the Mattole, Reggae, Friday markets, Farmers markets, birthday parties, that big trance dance party on Titlow this last Saturday.
Did you read the article? Or just comment?
First paragraph is about some a hole who went to both and dgaf about anyone else
Did you read that I was responding to large Ricardo?
Rickolith implied there was a grande conspiracy to get COVID prior to the election. I implied it had more to do with the summer event schedule.
Jocelyn you sound like you need another vaccine. How about a mask?
Was never worried about it. Never vaxxed. Had it a few times and it wasn’t much more than an annoyance because it lasted longer than a typical flu. The whole “event” was predictable from the start. I remember people I know saying things like the unvaxxed should be put into camps. Never heard an apology for that, though we see vaxxed people get it all the time.
Wait until a strain comes along that’s a little more……fatal. And it’s coming. Also it’s not about you. It’s about everyone else. Being unvaccinated is just being seflish. Me,me,me,me.
I agree
Yes- how dare anybody choose what to do with their own body! How dare they make their own decision about putting a new experimental drug into their blood!! The nerve of these people who will not obey what the government tells them to do to their own bodies and their own children!!!!!
That’s fine and dandy as long as you stay at home and don’t go out and infect me. Do whatever the f–k you want with YOUR body as long as it doesn’t effect my body.
You really haven’t recognize that not even the authorities are pretending that vaccination is a meaningful measure against spread? This article has a public health official clearly stating that vaccination doesn’t prevent you from catching or spreading the disease.
This kind of comment really highlights the psychopathic selfishness that is always looming behind your regular appeal for the mass death of humans.
Selfish? Me? I’m the most unselfish person out there. The only one advocating for a meaningful controlled change that can actually help humanity (those that are left). While everyone else does nothing, buys their EV’s and their battery powered dildos and awaits what I advocate but it will happen in an uncontrolled, chaotic, and vicious and violent way. It it you who are selfish.
Like an eugenecists, you mask your malice in magnanimity and hold dearly the conceit that you’re obviously among the privileged class that should not be subject to elimination.
This is an old, tired, worn out argument from people who pretend at a sort of scientific biological determinism but are clearly afraid of the way that will actually play out.
I’ll take my chances along with everyone else. But since I have a brain and more importantly, use it, and are better prepared than most, I like my chances. So do our friends who know where to come when the shit hits the fan. Good luck to you and yours.
Anybody who’s alive is among a privileged class. And you do a GREAT job of projecting your faults onto others.
I don’t presume to declare mass human death as a desirable goal. The fact that you couch this regularly stated belief (except, apparently, when it’s you who might be among those eliminated) in a sort of paternalistic and intellectual cloak of charity doesn’t change the fact that you align yourself with a long history of atrocity perpetrated by those who believe that mass death is a noble goal.
You don’t get to “declare” it. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. It can happen in somesort of semi controlled fashion or in a total free fall. I propose to try and make it semi controlled. You apparently want the alternative, which will not be pretty. The human race ( you and me) are the problem and we will be corrected. You may have spent too much time in college or reading college books you don’t quite understand.
You may be the problem, I don’t disagree. The fact that you freely lay that at other people’s feet is telling.
You also mistake you’re own belief about what will happen as an inevitable fact, and use that to justify your own twisted fantasy of “semi controlled” mass murder is telling as well.
All of the most vaunted ecological glories of the pre industrial age were the result of human landscape management. And there are dozens and dozens of stories of people in the modern day applying a bit of sense and actualizing unbelievable ecological abundance in the most dire situations. Humans are the ultimate terrestrial keystone species. But your philosophical allies have consistently leaned on their own selfish instincts to declare everyone as spiritually debated as themselves and thus “the problem”
As opposed to uncontrolled mass murder? “Vaunted ecological glories” ? WTF are you talking about? No human intervention I’m aware of is any better than nature and is often way worse. Everything humans touch turns to shit. Look at the S.F. Bay area….vermin everywhere, look at Venice, look at Spain look anywhere….human vermin destroying everything they touch. Let’s have everyone move to Humboldt and see what a big improvement that makes….planet can support one billion humans…..8 billion and counting….unlimited growth on a finite planet, what do you thinks going to happen? Nothing good.
Just because you’re not educated about the history of humans as a crucial ecological keystone species doesn’t make it a non factor.
The boreal forests of Canada, the grasslands of north America, the rich hardwood forests of the east coast and great lakes, the jungles of the Amazon and central America, the Iberian oak savannahs, and more were all rich ecological wonders created with the help of human management.
If you want modern examples you can look at things like Al Baydah in Saudi Arabia or the Krammaterhof in Austria. Or read the book Farmers of 40 centuries about the abundance produced by East Asian land managers in the 19th century.
You can set arbitrary limits if it makes you feel better about your fixation on mass human death. But it doesn’t make them real. Your ignorance of ecology and the human role in it makes you especially unqualified to declare those limits.
Not educated? All you mention are being destroyed by human intervention. Unintentionally or not. Get over yourself.
In your little missive you fail to mention ancient Iraq and it’s human caused irrigating schemes which resulted in increased salinity of the soil and collapse of their civilization, or the more recent conundrum of fish and game on the Columbia River where the choice is let salmon (a protected species) go extinct or kill the also protected bird species that’s eating all the salmon before they get to the ocean. Also on the Columbia, having to truck dead salmon to dump on the now non productive farm land because salmon can’t there because of the dams. There are many, many more examples past and present which indicate a complete lack of understanding by humans of the ecology of the planet. Cherry picked results to prove your point. Someone maybe uneducated but it’s not me.
Did you read the quote from Fenyman? You’re the easiest to fool.
Maybe here’s something we can agree on. We all think we’re so smart and clever when collectively we’re dumber than a rock? Been nice sparring with you. Take care.
Words of wisdom?
More words….
How does my vaccination status affect your vaccination status? If you’re vaccinated and boosted, you should be fine no matter what, right?
Seriously, the obtuse angle of zip line’s argument is so delu-lu not even worth a reply.
The injections, no matter how many you subject yourself to have never, and will never stop the vaccinated from carrying it, coming down with it, or spreading it! That’s the science. It mystifies me the pro-jabbers are so into “science” but the biggest revelation about the injection phases them in no way. It does not perform like an actual vaccine (old definition : providing immunity) but instead performs in a murky and effective way according to the newfangled definition that’s based on vague promises and optimistic puffery.
Gosh. Can’t believe we’re still having this discussion. …..is it just clickbait? I assume the intention of the writer is good, but article comes off a tad biased.
? ? ☠️ ☠️ ? ?
Exactly. However, the brainwashed can’t see that. They just want us to blindly comply.
Still remember that cartoon of Zippy the Pinhead.
If you are vaxxinated, why should you give a crap about anybody else out there who isn’t? Aren’t you protected with trillions of injected protective lipid nanoparticles and endotoxins? You should be like a whole body walking breathing endothelium condom sheathed skin.
Hey Stevo, no vaccine is 100% so the more people vaccinated the better everyone’s chances. Get over it.
Yeah I’ll walk across the street any old way with my body no matter traffic. I’ll pee etc any ole place cause its my body. Extremes and slogans taken out of any actual context are dangerous.
So, you’re saying you’re upset that abortion is no longer available nationwide?
How so? Being vaccinated does not stop you from getting it or spreading it to other people.
It does reduce the likelihood of getting it and, therefore, the likelihood of spreading it to other individuals.
How is that quantified?
“…reduced the odds to acquire infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant in household settings by two thirds for mRNA vaccines and by one third for vector vaccines. For index cases, being fully vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine reduced the odds of onwards transmission by four-fifths compared to unvaccinated index cases.” https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanwpc/article/PIIS2666-6065(23)00248-1/fulltext
As with so many of those studies, it looks at a time and place where unvaccinated people were subject to many more instances of mandated testing. This disparity in testing is not accounted for in their methods section. Obviously, more testing of one population will produce more positive test results on that population.
So they simply changed the definition of “acquire”. According to the previous definition the virus is acquired as soon as it enters the body. Get it? 🙂
After entering the body, the study shows a quicker immune response, which prevents growing a higher virus population with more possibility of spread.
Delta variant has been long long gone. Longitudinal study was never done and the Lancet editors should have placed this in the garbage since contact tracing to show proof wasn’t ever done.
Does it also increase the likelihood that an infection would be asymptomatic…???
Does an asymptomatic infection, therefore, increase the likelihood of spreading it to other individuals…???
So it would seem…
“So it would seem” is an observation.
There are many steps between an observation and a conclusion.
Take that step…
Then take another…
Step 1)…
‘AI Overview’
“Yes, it’s possible that vaccinated people who get infected with COVID-19 may not show symptoms or have mild symptoms, which could make it easier for them to spread the virus without realizing it. This is especially true when vaccinated people have high viral loads and may disregard social distancing measures. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, vaccinated people should continue to practice public health safety measures like wearing masks, social distancing, and washing their hands. ”
…………….
Step 2)
“Vaccine effectiveness studies have conclusively demonstrated the benefit of COVID-19 vaccines in reducing individual symptomatic and severe disease, resulting in reduced hospitalisations and intensive care unit admissions.1 However, the impact of vaccination on transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 needs to be elucidated. A prospective cohort study in the UK by Anika Singanayagam and colleagues2 regarding community transmission of SARS-CoV-2 among unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals provides important information that needs to be considered in reassessing vaccination policies.➡️ This study showed that the impact of vaccination on community transmission of circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2 appeared to be not significantly different from the impact among unvaccinated people.⬅️2, 3 The scientific rationale for mandatory vaccination in the USA relies on the premise that vaccination prevents transmission to others, resulting in a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”.4 Yet, the demonstration of COVID-19 breakthrough infections among fully vaccinated health-care workers (HCW) in Israel, who in turn may transmit this infection to their patients,5 requires a reassessment of compulsory vaccination policies leading to the job dismissal of unvaccinated HCW in the USA. Indeed, there is growing evidence that peak viral titres in the upper airways of the lungs and culturable virus are similar in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.2,3,5–7 A recent investigation by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of an outbreak of COVID-19 in a prison in Texas showed the equal presence of infectious virus in the nasopharynx of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.6 Similarly, researchers in California observed no major differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in terms of SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in the nasopharynx, even in those with proven asymptomatic infection.7 Thus, the current evidence suggests that current mandatory vaccination policies might need to be reconsidered, and that vaccination status should not replace mitigation practices such as mask wearing, physical distancing, and contact-tracing investigations, even within highly vaccinated populations.”
-The Lancet-
Does not reduce the likelyhood of getting it. Unless you can provide a credible source, I call “nonsense”.
Pfizer never did the study on the shots reducing spread , just the likelihood of having any one of nine pages of single spaced adverse reactions in their clinical trials. Yes, nine pages worth and yes one, only one has to do with soreness at the injection site.
The others? Go read it. It’s what Pfizer tried with the FDA to hide from the public for 75 years till they were compelled by a Federal judge to release tranches of them.
Not so much, it reduces the likelihood of severe infection and hospitalization. But it also causes more asymptomatic cases That are still infectious to others..
Oh but it does according to a President Biden and that Rhodes scholar Rachel!
Vaccinated people don’t get COVID and spread COVID to others?
Not according to talking TV heads and a Max headroom styled President.
Max Headroom TV Series — watch it here!:
https://archive.org/details/max-headroom-complete
Being vaxxed and shedding your LNP laced piss and shit into the biological systems is all about you, you you. Talking back at how we spent over $4 trillion dollars on making walking time bombs like you. You need to read and shut off main stream media who is “Brought to you by Pfizer”
Try this one… Journal of Radiology Sept. 2023 (a peer reviewed SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL read the comparison study of vaxxinated vs. unvaxxed.
That’s not how viruses evolve.
As viruses evolve they actually get less deadly and typically more contagious.
If they kill off their host they have nowhere to live, and evolve!
Talk about missing science class….
At least have the consideration though to wear a damn mask if you or anyone you have been around have been sick cause it isnt all about you.
If you’re concerned about catching COVID, how about you wear a mask instead of telling other people what they should be doing?
Yeah!
And stop telling me to wash my hands after using the bathroom
and to cover my mouth when I sneeze.
If I want to spread germs, that’s my right!
Do masks prevent the spread of covid? I haven’t seen any credible science that indicates they do. Have you? If so, please share a link.
Someone down voted, but no one provided the requested evidence. Is that because there is none?
The reality depends on cooperation of course. Like seat belts, masks only work when used properly. It’s pretty much common sense they help.
Also I provided because I always like to recheck information to see if better has come along. Frankly people who demand you provide “proof” when there is no level of it they are ever going to accept is a waste of time.
https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/news/comprehensive-review-confirms-masks-reduce-covid-19-transmission
Thank you Y.
I depend on *me* to keep myself safe and I strongly recommend you so the same.
I do the same.
But I’m also considerate of others.
Tou tell ’em, Tucker!
Lol. My mask has a hole where my mouth is and says I am in a Controlled Group.
Proves my point that among my fellow humans, ignorance is their bliss.
That’s not a problem and I find it to be reasonable. Yes, I do.
I guess everyone misses the facts that if a disease is naturally occurring they can not patent it so why does Corona virus have a patent. That’s called germ warfare but nobody wants to address that fact. Mrna is nano technology and has nothing to do with protecting you from a “virus” because viruses are actually just a conspiracy theory and have never been proven to exist. Mrna is nano technology that makes you a walking blue tooth so they can monitor everything about you. WO202060606 is the patent. Go look it up ppl……SMH.
I looked it up like you said and it looks like you never went beyond a youtube video to find out what nanotechnoloy is. I can find you a youtube video claiming that nanotechnolgy makes you a walking bluetooth, but I can not find one credible source that says that. Why would they need to inject you with bluetooth tracking device, when everyone already has one, a cell phone. Here is a scientific explination a to what nanotechnology is, not some youtuber looking to fear monger for views. https://engineeringonline.ucr.edu/blog/what-is-vaccine-nanotechnology/
The carrier lipid nanoparticles do not stay in the injection site. That is a myth and a lie. Worse yet there is allowance for endotoxins in their manufacturing that once injected in your body, goes everywhere in the body.
No wonder Bill Gates (Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLC owns the patent) wants everyone vaccinated.

On a side note, having 2020 and 6 6 6 in the international patent number is an interesting coincidence.
Every new case of covid is a good thing. Every new case is a chance for the virus to mutate into something much more effective. And everyone knows that’s just what the planet needs, a more effective virus.
If you actually mean what you say, what is stopping u from checking out of life on Earth? Huh? Or is it u consider yourself more important than others so they are the ones who should be eliminated? As the Indian chief said to the traveling con artist elixir salesman in Josey Wales, “you drink it!” Think of the samurai, they fall on their swords and don’t make wild claims while doing it. They just do it, like Nike.
I’d be lonely. I want you to come too.
No one stops you from going to Canada where euthanasia is a right.
It was only ever a pandemic of the unhealthy. Live healthy. Get your vitamin D2.
There is no vaccine for covid.
What about D3…staying or even getting educated is exhausting and time consuming and I’m an f’n hard worker.
Has to be taken with Vitamin K2 or other issues can happen.
If you are a hard worker as you claim with a family to keep you will educate yourself. Much as you educate yourself with a new piece of power equipment.
Know your PPE.
https://wmcresearch.substack.com/p/friday-hope-vitamin-k-a-necessary?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
Yeah, nevermind, don’t live healthy.
Live poorly and die early.
Those who have been vaccinated should be forced to stay home. If they go out in public, they need to wear a sign that says “TERMINAL SICKIE” on their forehead. Why should the rest of us pay for their stupid decisions to injure themselves?
I believe the virus is the result of genetic manipulation of a natural virus by humans. I don’t know if it was released intentionally or accidentally. I do know that Fauci is a documented liar. I don’t trust liars. Fauci is also a man who devises ‘research’ that tortures dogs. I don’t trust sadists.
Using terms like ‘covidiots’ and ‘vaccimbeciles’ is counterproductive. The drugs being sold as vaccines have not been through the normal approval process. Those who want them have them. Their choice to take experimental treatment should be respected. The choice of those who don’t want experimental treatment should also be respected.
School will start soon. Almost no one will modify behavior. If those who are sick would keep their kids home and stay home themselves, it would help more than anything else. A few will, but many won’t. As almost always, if people would stop behaving like selfish assholes, the world would be a better place.
Well said, Stars, thank you!
I’d just like to take this time to thank all the virologists and scientists in this comment section
What would we do without you and your wisdom?
I still believe in Darwin. The weak and stupid will die off, leaving a better, healthier population. So, thanks for that??
Smh… so fing dumb and selfish, but go on and do you, boo ?
???
Oh Boy! Here we go again. How many have suddenly dropped dead due to receiving the clot shot? We don’t know because it is never reported if the person got the jab or not. Just last week it was reported that a 15yr old suddenly dropped dead from a heart attack during football practice.( 15 yr olds don’t just drop dead from heart attacks) and another person drowned while competing during a cross fit event the report said the person had a heart attack. Why don’t they ever say if these people got the clot shot or not. I never got the clot shot and have never gotten Covid, yet every one I know that did get the jab has gotten the covid at least once (some more than once). No thanks I’ll pass on the jab and take my chances with my own immune system and common sense.
That shows a lack of awareness of the facts:
“Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes. Estimates vary, but some reports suggest that about 1 in 50,000 to 1 in 80,000 young athletes die of sudden cardiac death each year. For comparison, the incidence of sudden cardiac arrest in the general population is about 1 in 1,000 people yearly.” https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/young-athletes-and-heart-health#:~:text=Sudden%20cardiac%20arrest%20is%20the,sudden%20cardiac%20death%20each%20year.
Yes, Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have a rare risk of causing heart inflammation (myocarditis), especially in young men, but experts say that studies show that the benefits of vaccination are greater than the risks.
Yep,.. the same experts that voted for Joe Biden?
Take a deep breath. You cannot possibly know the voting records of scientists that participated in all these studies: https://www.google.com/search?q=Studies+that+show+COVID+vaccine+effective&sca_esv=17cd44fc334c6f6b&sxsrf=ADLYWILTfhKGWOQ90diIfWyJbpDZmmEibA:1723484987017&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:y&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi06bTzgfCHAxX1ADQIHW4OHNEQpwV6BAgBEAs&biw=1846&bih=959&dpr=1
Unless of course you are assuming that everyone who politically thinks like you is not a scientist–which would seem to be a cause for concern.
No, but you can see a stark difference between the left and right side media and which ones were pushing what narrative. Sure, it’s a generalization
When you conflate scientists with reporters and reporters with opinion writers, it points me towards the root cause of why you believe differently than most scientists about the benefits of getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
You’re old enough to know better
And once again a big thank you ! to Kym Kemp for allowing all us assholes to post our idiot opinions on her website. The traffic and fire info can’t be beat.
I’m pretty sure the initial causes are poor health due to diet and lifestyle, combined with environmental pollution exposure to toxins.
I wonder has there been an increase since 2019?
And a reduction of global O2 by 1% which, if studied, might just show bacterial changes adverse to our lung health. But what do I really know with a B.S. and M.S. and post graduate work on two other degrees? That’s why I read and research a lot. Haven’t watched mainstream media since 9-11 when I was told the lies that brought us the “Patriot Act” the illegal unconstitutional undeclared wars in the middle east.
For me it was undeclared Viet Nam war, JFK, MLK, RFK assassinations, then hearing about Watergate months before Nixon was selected.
??,
Kym,
As far as…
“Yes, Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have a rare risk of causing heart inflammation (myocarditis), especially in young men, but experts say that studies show that the benefits of vaccination are greater than the risks.”
Could you please provide a link to that…???
I’d like to see the date…
And how many cumulative vaccinations had become available at the time.
How many vaccinations total, that statement could possibly have applied to at the time, to compare to how many cumulative vaccinations have become available up until now…
Thank you.
Specifically…
“… studies show the benefits of vaccination are greater than the risks.”
-Kym Kemp-
…………………………………
Wouldn’t that be very presumptuous…???
It would DEFINITELY involve a dubious assumption…
Even IF true,
(It’s been shown to not hold true for all demographics)
That is IF, and only IF, one was destined to have contractef covid.
And that is NOT EVERYONE’S FATE…
And could you please show me where your statement is true for the cumulative number of covid vaccinations available up to this date…
Is it 7 now, or 8…???
I really don’t think that data is available…
How many shots does your statement apply to…
Exactly…
One…?, Two…? Three…??? Four…???
Unlimited…???
I beg to differ.
Is your statement current or is it now obsolete, for the “up to date”…
Does it still hold true…???
Are you representing that it is currently true without current evidence…???
How may vaccinations had become available at the time your links were published…???
I’m estimating no more than 3 or 4…
Point being…
There are no benefits of vaccination if you weren’t destined to end up getting infected…
Not everyone gets infected with covid…
For those that wouldn’t have eventually gotten covid without vaccination, vaccination would ONLY be associated with additional unnecessary risk, and would NOT ever have provided a benefit at all…
Unnecessary risk, that is, times however many vaccinations.
Cumulative vaccinations involve cumulative risk.
That hasn’t been taken into consideration, with all due respect…
If one hasn’t been infected with covid yet, and also haven’t been vaccinated, they have faced no vaccination risk, and faced no risk presented by being infected with covid.
That represents the least potential side effects.
Best case scenario…
Unlimited risks of an unlimited number of vaccinations have not been shown to provide a protective benefit for heart problems, or anything else for that matter, greater than the risk, respectively, involved of with a single covid infection…
If it has, please show me the proof.
Thank you.
Again Journal Radiology Sept 2023. Comparison PET/CT of vaccinated vs not.
Large study. Bad news for vaxxed since even “mild myocardial inflammation” can be consequential.
Also look at inflammation and lipid nanoparticles, the carrier for the modRNA..and the endotoxins like e-coli bacteria contamination from manufacturing.
The more you know the more you realize you are in a population wide lab rat study (which of course this really is).
https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.059970
‘Conclusions’
…”Overall, the risk of myocarditis is greater after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after COVID-19 vaccination and remains modest after sequential doses including a booster dose of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine. [➡️]However, the risk of myocarditis after vaccination is higher in younger men, particularly after a second dose of the mRNA-1273 vaccine.[⬅️]”
-American Heart Association-
8-22-2022
(Study during Delta, not during much less serious Omicron…???)
Inflammation of the heart is throughout the population who have taken the shots Kym and continues to be proven. You could have easily brought the Journal of Radiology study out but again…
As for the dismissive “Experts say…”
Experts say a lot when they are paid.
Or more appropriately, have been bought and paid for just like Neils Ferguson of the Imperial College of London by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He scared the hell out of the people with his model for the pandemic based on falsified data from a doctor who wasn’t a doctor who used a test that wasn’t a diagnostic tool.

Saying that myocarditis from covid is worse, doesn’t really add up considering that not everyone is destined to get covid, especially in the short period of time before the vaccine’s efficacy wanes to the point of ineffectiveness.
AND, just because you got vaccinated, however many times, with the associated cumulative risks of myocarditis, doesn’t mean that you WONT STILL GET COVID, possibly more than once, ALONG WITH THE ASSOCIATED ADDITIONAL MYOCARDITIS RISKS.
That means risks plus risks. not one risk, or, and only or, the other.
So, only comparing the risk of myocarditis from vaccination, to the risk of myocarditis from covid while unvaccinated, as if those are the only two possible scenarios, is a logical fallacy.
Nobody regrets Not taking the shot
You’ve forgotten the deathbed recantations from internet covidiots lamenting their previous anti-vax positions?
PS: No, I remember it clearly so I won’t look it up for you.
The author speaks of, “folks who remain unconvinced of the virtues of modern science”, but fails to mention folks who will never doubt anything as long as someone tells them to ‘trust the science’.
It seems that some personal opinion has made it into this ‘news’ piece.
Yep. Faucis beagles in Tunisia didn’t agree with the Science either. They are all dead now. Unwitting participants in a study concerning the effects of sand fly larvae on the brain . The dogs were tied to gurneys, their heads were cordoned off and infected with the larvae. The larvae ate their brains while they screamed in pain until the lab workers severed their vocal cords so the screams wouldn’t bother the scientists. This was a useless experiment because scientists already knew what sand fly larvae does to living beings and their brains. They figured that out decades earlier. This experiment was done in Tunisia so Fauci and his scientists could avoid publicity and the wrath of peta. I won’t even get started on the AIDs drug experiments he performed on orphaned children in New York in the 80s. Turned very bad as well.
So this is the type of demented Scientist Fauci is and who we are dealing with. Go figure…….to stay as far away as possible from anything the guy recommends. Do the exact opposite and you will live another day.
The FDA withdrew the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the CDC’s original 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel.
How can we find out what specific PCR tests are currently being used to diagnose COVID in Humboldt County?
You really can’t as the primers vary from PCR testing company to testing company. These were licensed to create and use from Hoffman LaRoche. With no uniformity you go to the CDC reporting death certificate which last I checked only had on it Died of Covid Y/N and test showed COVID-19 Y/N
Slipshod database that didn’t log the primer used, manufacturer, testing company, cycle thresholds used, QC and qualifications of lab….
Going to be watching for some good deals on home sales in Trinidad.
“The selection of idiots will be done on their own. They will go to the slaughterhouse all on their own.” Jacques Attali. International Banker and Eugenicist
Post note: Even to this day there is no validated test for what is assumed to be COVID-19. The FDA gave emergency use authorization for a DNA assay device called PCR for a disease that the Chinese said they never isolated but gave a best guess genomic sequence.
So, who should you ever believe? If this was real would you think all unvaxxinated would be dead by now? It’s like believing imo in tooth faires.
After 4 vaccinations I still got COVID. I get a Flu shot every year and never get the flu. Big Pharma will no longer be making money off me.
As COVID-19 cases began to accelerate again this spring, federal data suggests the rate of breakthrough COVID infections in April was worse in boosted Americans compared to unboosted Americans — though rates of deaths and hospitalizations remained the lowest among the boosted.
Did you die of covid? No? Maybe you got your money’s worth after all. Because “rates of deaths and hospitalizations remained the lowest among the boosted?”
The idea behind my vaccinations was to not get COVID. I’m prepared to take my chances.
Since there’s no guarantee about getting it, then reducing the damage it does by priming the immune system to react fast to limit the damage seems a pretty good idea. It would be great if vaccine could prevent infection. Doctors and scientists would love that too. But just because something can’t be prevented is no reason to dismiss doing what can be done.
I see your point, but I’ll take my chances this year.
??,
“Did you die of covid?”

?♂️, SMDH…
it is estimated there are 1 of 36 people infected with Covid RIGHT NOW in the US

And it will keep mutating, killing and disabling until citizens DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT with their behavior.
PANDEMIC still stop with the ‘endemic’ like we can’t do anything…we can we just won’t cuz it will cost some corporation money.
The ‘immunity’ that keeps being mentions is FLEETING AT BEST! and there’s that yummy variant soup out there –who is ‘immune’ to the many variants now circulation, and gestating in chronic infected people’s bodies…
O…there’s no clear evidence that Covid clears from tissues after acute infection.
Airborne AIDES where everybody asks ‘how come everybody is sick all the time…?’
it’s a mystery…
I’ve known quite a few people in the last few weeks that had Covid.
The feds have money to fund genocide in Gaza, but they stopped mailing free Covid tests in March. Not that you can tell from their outdated websites, had to go to KQED to find out.
The vaccinations are part of the reason it is spreading. Vaxxed people get a mild version or are asymptomatic so they carry on as usual. That’s how I got it last time. Remember, the “vax? doesn’t stop you from getting it or spreading it.
Our government does not support or fund genocide…
What would you call it?
I call it Hamas and their Palestinian counterparts screwed up and underestimated Israels response to their Oct. 6 and 7th attacks. Now the Hamas threat will be neutralized. Hamas does not want peace in the region until Israel is non-existent.

Your facts come from Hamas. It’s a war.
Unicef, actually
Correct.
Our government supports, AND funds, genocide…
Only to the unhinged and misinformed arrive at that conclusion.
Yes- this was never discussed. Their smaller and asymptomatic cases make them feel just fine about going out in public and mingling. Why should they care? The people who didn’t get multiple pokes are all stupid and conspiratorial so the hell with them! I’ve actually heard boostered people talk like that….
::pats small pox scar affectionately:: You’re welcome.
W did just get a good old family case of COVID, and I can tell you it is a very nasty sickness, somewhere between cold and flu. Congestion, cough, fever, all the nasty things. A very strong sick feeling that lasted just under a week. I haven’t had a booster in a while but if a jab would have taken the edge off a little I would have done it happily, in retrospect. I can see why this could be a deadly disease for unfit people.
This new drug craze is the strangest one yet
Kym, thank you for continuing to publish fact-based detailed articles like this and risking the ire of the mouthbreathing pitchforks and torches crowd. They are invested in their ignorant indignation and can’t be helped.
Covid ended years ago.
IT IS OVER.
Title should be “People get on with life after realizing covid pandemic was a hoax”
I just feel bad for those who were duped into the vax, bu those who attacked others for not taking it can fuck off.
Covid fatigue is from the Vaccine. I carried that fog after getting the 1st 2 shots. Took a year and a half to get over it . I thought I was on my way out but feeling good again.
Lie down with the dogs, you get fleas
Reggae on the River brought it home to my neighborhood. Jah provides!….covid
The way “we” the people responded to Covid, destroyed businesses, took children out of school for almost 2 years, had families fighting, employers forcing vaccinations( DHHS included) neighbors snitching, was horrifying. And Fauci,CDC, Public Health,( yes YOU, local PH) all did stats to serve their purpose. In hearings they said they never forced anyone to get the vaccine. Uh, ok.
Just stop CDC, PH. You’re unreliable, have caused enough damage. FFS. Let’s not roll out the disaster train ever again.
You crazies are still worried about Covid? Hahaha. Maybe start writing articles every time the common cold hits and every time the flu is on the rise. So funny watching a crowd who never liked the “man” now conform, bow down to, and become the “man”
