Kenny Carswell Announces His Candidacy for City Council

“I genuinely love this community,” Carswell said. “Growing up in Ward 2, I have always felt a strong connection to the people and places that make this area unique.” He added that his goal is to be a voice for the community and residents of Ward 2 and to work to ensure the council remains objective and representative of its citizens.

Carswell grew up and attended school in Eureka. His current civic activities include serving as a Rotarian and a member of the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board.

“I have actively supported my community and wish to be a voice that truly represents the community and residents of Ward 2,” Carswell said. “I will work to ensure the council remains objective and representative of all its citizens.”

Will Adams, president of ACGC, Inc. (Adams Commercial General Contracting), said, “I have known Kenny Carswell for some time and think he will make an excellent addition to the Eureka City Council. As Eureka hopes to grow and redevelop, we are going to need level-headed, practical people like Kenny in positions of leadership.”

At a recent meeting of supporters, Carswell told attendees that advocating for the needs and concerns of Eureka’s residents while engaging with and listening to community members is truly important and something he genuinely values and enjoys.

Carswell’s deep love for Eureka drives his desire to serve on the council. He is passionate about making a positive impact.

“I am dedicated to prioritizing the collective voice by making decisions that correspond with the consensus of the majority. I deeply love Eureka, and it would be a privilege to represent my Ward on this council,” Carswell added.”

I don’t know him. However, just from his statement it is clear that he could do a lot for Eureka. Currently the ECC is 100% airheads that have no clue. I hope Eureka will elect based on qualifications this time around.

They won’t, they vote on their misplaced virtuous feelings. The City may never recover from the gaslighting the denizens have experienced.
But the Florida Carpetbagger known as Arroyo is planning to laugh all the way to Huffman’s seat, and Eureka’s bleeding hearts gave her the first rung.

Just go take a good, deep dive into Eureka, especially Old Town, and see exactly what the current city council has done to improve it–nothing. Weeds abound, boarded up windows from vandalism, street people, etc. Eureka needs a shot of good leadership.

Old Town is quite nice.
They have a lot of fun activities there and it’s a good pace to take guests from out of town.

What part of old town is nice? It’s full of litter, homeless tweakers, crime, human and animal feces. Just the place I think of avoiding at all cost when I have visitors from out of town. I drive through multiple times daily and so far, it hasn’t gotten to the place where I am less disgusted. There’s more calls for ambulance, fire and law enforcement there than I see anywhere else in the town.

I don’t think I’ve seen a city worker with a lawn mower or weed whacker in about forever.

Most regular posters here will.never acknowledge that. There’s a sort of entrenched mantra among some people that old town is terrible.

I’m sure it’s had periods where it was cleaner and more vibrant, but in the 15+ years I’ve lived around here it’s improved pretty seriously and knowing the history of the town it’s also gone through some much rougher patches.

I love Old Town! Such cute shops and its close to the Bay which is fun to walk. The architecture is gorgeous.

Considering he moved from southend Little Fairfield, I feel that he’s a good fit for the position, that location is practically in the city and feels all the ramifications thereto.
I’d agree with all the pearl clutchers if he had moved from Loleta or somewhere else further a field.
Kati is unprofessional and has proved it with her conduct.

It’s a technical move. LF is county. Can’t vote for him and he can’t run while living there, and thus unable to vote on anything the city decides to do because he would not be on the ballot. He could run against Rex for BOS. That’s an expensive move, a gamble, with convenient timing. And people are calling BS on it all over town. I hear it every day offline somewhere.

It is a teensy bit telling that he doesn’t mention he works at Security National.

He just closed on a house right in ward 2.
A realtor disclosed to LoCo that there was a request for a home in ward 2, fast! About a month ago. He also just changed his party affiliation from Republican. He is a project manager for Security National.
So, seems like nobody in ward 2 wanted to fight Security National’s fight, and Republicans have trashed the party’s reputation to the point where they can’t even win a little local election with the richest guy in the neighborhood’s money.

Oh good, I don’t have to decide how to vote on this person.

It seems to me that the person to offer the best social programs always win in Eureka.

Thanks for proving our point!

Most people who were against the sale of Jacob’s Campus Will Not Vote for this guy. Most people in that area Are Against Housing For All. The Jacob Campus Deal was shady and experts agree, and so does the majority!! Kenny Carswell works for Security National. Funny thing Kenny went from Republican to Independent in a matter of weeks. No on F which is no Housing For All, and No on Carswell!! Republican in name only, behind a shady deal.

If you live south of Allard St (Little Fairfield starts there, goes south), you won’t get to vote, as that’s county. City limits goes W-E along Allard. The Jacobs property (old Zoe Barnum, too for you newcomers) is on the north side at Utah St., so technically within city limits. Your new candidate moved a whole three blocks closer to qualify as a resident of the ward. And I’m aware that a lot of folks around there are not real pleased about this deal, and many of them will not get to have any say as they are on the county side, directly across the street from the Jacobs site.

High level of suspicion that this guy is a schill for Arkley. Follow the trail of how he got into this race; not to mention he is an employee of (In-)Security National.
Do not vote for Kenny Carswell!!

We need a more detailed bio on Mr Carswell. Lack of details makes me wonder what is he hiding?

this guy worked at Pierson’s Lumber before SN. He started working there in High School in an era were kids don’t have jobs or want to work because they have soft parents. just wait until people like me retire, we are paying for everything, everything will fall apart. there’s not many Kenny’s around to patch it up.
