[UPDATE 6:26 p.m. Thursday:: 100% Contained!] New Fire in the Post Mountain Area of Trinity County

A new fire, named the Pipeline Fire, has started in the Post Mountain area of Trinity County. The blaze began around 1:40 p.m. and was first visible on the Hayfork Divide camera in the Alert California network.

At present, an air attack and Tanker 104 is overhead, reporting that the fire is approximately 3/4 of an acre in size and spreading slowly. Other aircraft and ground crews are responding.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 2:17 p.m.: FlightRadar shows aircraft circling to between Post Mountain and Hwy 36.

UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: The fire is spreading slowly. Roughly now it is estimated to be one acre. The wind is blowing east northeast, away from structures.

UPDATE 4 p.m.: The fire is now estimated to be 4.5 acres. And more resources are on order. The Air Attack just ordered two more tankers and a Type 2 copter. The Incident Commander ordered two more engines, two hand crews,  two water tenders and a dozer.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m.: Shasta Trinity National Forest tweeted, “The Pipeline Fire is 5 acres with a low rate of spread. Engine crews are actively suppressing the fire from the ground and helicopter and fixed wing aircraft are providing support. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

UPDATE 9:40 p.m.: Shasta Trinity National Forest tweeted,

UPDATE 9:57 p.m.: New evacuation warning zone issued. 

UPDATE 9:05 a.m. Thursday: Good news! Shasta Trinity National Forest Service just tweeted that the fire is 30% contained and there is a hose lay all around the fire.

 

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: The Fire is 75% contained.

UPDATE 6:26 p.m.: The fire is 100% contained.

I pray that there are enough resources left to put this fire out before it has a chance to grow bigger and cause some real problems.

I’m near Eureka High School. I can see evidence of smoke due to the orange tint of the sky. I can’t smell smoke. It surrounds me because my eyes are burning when I’m outdoors.
