[Update: Evacuation Orders Reduced to Warnings] New Fire East of Yreka Threatens Structures Near Siskiyou County Airport
A vegetation fire is burning in Siskiyou County east of Yreka near the Siskiyou County Airport. The blaze, ominously dubbed the Paradise Fire, began around 2:30 p.m. July 15, amid a summer storm that included thunderstorms accompanied by showers, though the source of the fire is unconfirmed at this time.
Cal Fire air resources have been assisting ground crews in the attempt to contain the Paradise Fire that quickly grew to 50 to 60 acres within an hour, some of the aircraft were pulled from the nearby Shelley Fire that has burned over 15,000 acres near the Marble Mountains.
Evacuation orders have been issued for the following zones:
- SIS-3407 – NORTH OF Yreka Ager Road, Cascade Wonderland Highway, SOUTH OF Ager Rd, EAST OF Cascade Wonderland Highway, and WEST OF Ager Road.
- MTF-3410-B – NORTH OF Airport Rd, Ager Rd, SOUTH OF Kuck Rd, Ager Rd, EAST OF Ager Rd, and WEST OF Kuck Rd
An evacuation warning has been issued for the following zones:
- SIS-3309
- SIS-3306
- MTF3410-A

Update 3:40 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, forward progress has been stopped. The most recent acreage update puts the fire at approximately 85 acres.
The tankers inbound from the Shelley Fire were released prior to their arrival. Tankers 93 and 96 were held over as a precaution before being released. Air attack is stating no open flames can be seen.
Update 4:15 p.m.: All evacuation orders have been reduced to evacuation warnings.
