Here’s What We Know about that Smoke

Currently, the Shelly Fire located in Siskiyou County, Klamath National Forest is bringing some Moderate smoke impacts (24hr avg AQI) along the Highway 96 corridor and river drainages due to nighttime and morning inversions. Conditions are expected to remain Moderate in impacted areas for the next several days. Overall, Good air quality conditions are expected along the coast.
Air quality monitors and the current Air Quality Index (AQI) for communities should be viewed at https://fire.airnow.gov. USFS Air Resource Advisors (ARAs) have not yet been assigned to fires impacting our area (https://outlooks.wildlandfiresmoke.net/outlook).
ALERT – Hazardous (AQI 301 and higher, 24 hr. avg):

ADVISORY – Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy (AQI 151-300 range, 24 hr. avg):
None
Regional Smoke Outlooks – Good , Moderate , to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (AQI 0-150 range):
Del Norte, Humboldt, and Trinity County – Overall, Good to Moderate air quality conditions with brief periods of increased smoke impacts inland and upper-level haze possible. Coastal areas are expected to have Good air quality with some haze aloft.Theseconditions are expected to occur through the week. This Air Quality Smoke Advisory will be updated as conditions substantially change.
