Crashed Car Located in Ravine Off the Avenue of the Giants South of Myers Flat
On the morning of June 7, 2024, a traffic collision involving a Honda Civic occurred near mile marker 9.60 on the South Humboldt 254 in Humboldt County. The incident was reported to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) when an individual presented a photo of the collision at the Hidden Springs Campground kiosk. Initial reports indicated that the vehicle’s visibility from the roadway and its occupancy status were unknown.
The vehicle, later identified as a Subaru, was discovered approximately 30 feet down a steep embankment, wedged in a low canyon. Efforts to gather more information about the incident were made, including attempts to locate the subject who had initially reported the accident.
CHP units arrived on the scene at around 9:56 AM, and a tow request was made for Redwood Tow, with an estimated arrival time of 30 minutes from Garberville. By 11:35 AM, Redwood Tow had successfully removed the vehicle from the embankment, and the CHP unit cleared the scene.
CHP Public Information Officer, Jonathon Clevenger, reported that the collision was from at least the night prior. No occupant was found inside or near the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the Garberville CHP at 707-932-6100.

Seen that this morning. It was about 100′ south of the landsdale bar entrance. Definitely a steep and rocky ledge below the ave.
Wow. I was by there a couple of hours ago but was annoyed at the Arizona truck in front of me going 17 mph all the way from MF so not looking over the edge. Yikes
I try not to take the Ave during the tourist season.
Pretty sure that the occupant isn’t legally required to report the crash or stick around as long as nobody was hurt and no personal property other than the driver’s was damaged.
