[UPDATE: Found] Mother Allegedly Kidnaps 12-Year-Old From Willits School; Suspect and Child Sought

Press release from Willits Police Department:
The Willits Police Department is asking for the public’s help in the matter of a kidnapping by parental abduction that occurred today at Baechtel Grove Middle School.
Brian Bakewell, age 12, was taken from the school by his biological, noncustodial mother who presented the school with what now appears to be falsified court documents naming her as the custodial parent. This occurred approx 0815 this morning and CHP cameras recorded the suspect vehicle eastbound on Hwy 20 in Lake County at 0845.
The suspect, Faith Galloway, age 38, currently transient in Lake County, has a history of residence and activity in Mendocino County and Willits also.
The suspect vehicle is a dark green 2003 Ford Expedition with a license plate of 5NXW316 / CA
The missing child and suspect were last sighted on foot in the city of Lucerne.
An Amber Alert is being created by state police at this time.
If you have knowledge of the location of the missing child, the suspect or the involved vehicle, please contact the Willits Police Department at 707-459-6122.
UPDATE: From the Willits PD, “Brian has been located, and the suspect has been taken into custody…The Willits Police Department would like to say a special thank you to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and to all of the community members who cared enough to share this and be a part in finding Brian.

Bet it’s great to be back with mom again. Call me old fashioned, but a mother would have to be a really horrible mother to justify taking her child away from her. I would love to hear more background on this. Was he in custody of father or foster home? Enjoy those precious moments

I’ve been homeless with my son. No, I wasn’t on drugs or drinking my life away. It really is that tough out here and single moms don’t qualify for as much help as you think. When I thought I was doing the right thing by sending him to stay with my mom… he and I did worse apart. We’re stronger together. No matter what it is we’re going through.
I know I can’t speak for this mom in particular. Just offering perspective to whoever wants it.

No, just a lot of people don’t enable sub par living for children. I mean, you want better, do better. maybe a quick google search would help. years of theft and drug arrests. her latest arrest for this crime on 3-29-24 included delinquency of a minor. so was she giving drugs or alcohol to her kid?

I really think women’s rights kinda go against the laws of nature entirely. I mean women’s rights rights are immoral and dishonest altogether. They just explain how it’s illegal for a man to respect a woman. People said this years ago then now,in 2024 the same scumbags pass another law that says it’s illegal for someone to tell a man who now identifies as a woman that he can’t use the woman’s restroom. You know how disrespectful that is to a woman or some young children,not to mention their father’s, making it illegal for us to tell some weirdo that he can’t go into a women’s restroom.

I agree, it is a sick system. I don’t care what kind of issues a mother is having, there should always be some kind of mediation of visitation between a mother and her child. The system needs to be the sensible party and initiate the cessation of hostility and manipulation for the sake of the child’s health. Not doing so does so much more damage and makes situations like this much more probable. People with nothing to lose have nothing to lose. So let’s keep pushing them around huh? Maybe that’s what they want?

Everyone who is rah-rahing for the mother are full of merde. None of you know the background on this story… this case could involve incredible neglect or abuse, not just homelessness. CPS doesn’t take kids just for fun, nor do the courts grant sole custody unless the record of the noncustodial parent demands it as the vast majority of child custody cases due to divorce end in joint custody arrangements. The fact that this woman presented forged documents to school officials in order to have the boy released to her indicates criminal behavior… a good mother wouldn’t do such a thing. A good mother would do everything required of her to stabilize her life and have her child returned to her legally. I’m just happy to see that the boy is safe and hopefully, won’t have much more trauma inflicted from this incident. God knows he’s got enough on his plate without Mom piling more shit on it.

Honest to God the kids probably in better hand with his mother than with government. In Washington they passed a law that allows the state to press charges against a parent for not allowing their ten year old children to get gender confirmation surgeries. That’s called kidnapping! This child was not lost to CPS because his mother was homeless and the system failed her. If anything, she milked the system for everything she could and used her children as income. His father has full custody because this mother is a mentally ill drug addict who was placing him in danger & severe neglect. The woman has another child from another man who she also lost custody of due to her use, being unfit, and abuse. She was also allowed visits with both children that she failed to attend, schedule, etc. I understand some cases aren’t fair or in the best interest of the child, but this is not one of them.
