Press release from PG&E:

Today, PG&E will be using helicopters to patrol our equipment in areas of Humboldt County. Our helicopter – a Bell 407 – will be flying all day today between Blue Lake and Willow Creek in Humboldt County’s Redwood Valley area. These areas were heavily impacted by the storms and conducting aerial patrols will support our restoration efforts.

As a result of the storms, we already know that we have equipment damage in the areas of Bair Road and Stover Road, including poles down and wires down due to falling trees. Now that we have access in those areas, we will be sending in crews to make assessments and make repairs.

I wonder how much it costs to fly that Bell 407 for the day? I hope they spot some possible damaged equipment to make flying worthwhile. PG&E should use some of its resources to hire contractors to clear the power lines of trees and limbs that can knock out the power in a storm.
