A crash involving a Eureka Police Department K-9’s vehicle blocked I Street H at 7th Street in Eureka at about 8:30 p.m.

As of 8:58 p.m., all streets have reopened.

Officers told our reporter that they couldn’t provide any information other than there were no serious injuries, and a driver was just getting checked out as a precaution.

The K-9 was not still inside the EPD vehicle when our reporter, Ryan Hutson, arrived at the scene.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Note: Earlier version of this story incorrectly identified H Street at 7th as the scene of the crash. We also clarified our statement on the K-9.

Looks like 7th blocked at “H” but accident is actually at 7th and “I”.

I am just really happy that the EPD officer and his K-9 are going to be ok. Wondering about the dog’s condition because he was not there when the story was reported. Folks, please pay attention to your driving especially at night when it is raining, and the streets are wet.
