[UPDATE 3:47 p.m.: Forward Progress Stopped] New Fire Threatening a Structure Near Covelo

Just before 3 p.m., firefighters learned of a new fire started in the 29300 Block of Eel River Ranch Rd. in Covelo. This is the 6th fire that has started near Covelo today.

This fire, the Pigeon, is burning south of Covelo.

The air attack warned that one structure was threatened but did say that the fire was moving at a slow rate of spread.

UPDATE 3:22 p.m.: The structure is reported to be burning.

UPDATE 3:36 p.m.: The ALERTCalifornia camera shows that smoke is diminishing. Several resources including a dozer and a hand crew have been released.

UPDATE 3:47 p.m.: The fire is about 1/4 acre and forward progress has been stopped. The Incident Commander cancelled more resources.

Six fires today in and around the Valley. Coinciding with a big bust to the west. Hmmm.

actually, they only mention one started in a logging slash pile. nothing at all about it being started by logging operations. Just one of them was started by a vehicle fire.
