[Update: Major and Minor Injuries Reported] At Least One Occupant Needs Medical Attention After Collision on Crawford Road

Just after noon on February 9, emergency personnel were dispatched to the report of a vehicle collision on Crawford Road near the cross of Henderson Lane in Covelo.

Initial reports on the CHP Traffic Incident page indicated this was a two-vehicle collision though later it was updated to a vehicle versus fence collision. Officers from the Garberville CHP station responded to the area arriving approximately 45 minutes after the incident.

The vehicle is described as a Hyundai Sonata with major front-end damage.

Scanner traffic indicated an air ambulance has been requested to the scene. First reports indicate multiple occupants of the vehicle including at least one juvenile, though information is sparse.

We spoke to the CHP Officer Jonathon Clevenger, public information officer for the Garberville office, who stated that due to the remote location of the collision and collaboration with other agencies first on scene, details of the incident were not readily available. He will update us when that information becomes available.

Update 1:55 p.m.: Officer Clevenger stated that this is in fact a two-vehicle collision. The two vehicles collided when the two vehicles intersected at Crawford Road and Henderson Lane resulting in a broadside collision. The driver of the one vehicle sustained major injuries and is being airlifted to a nearby hospital.  An 8-year-old juvenile in the other involved vehicle sustained minor injuries.
