Ok something needs to be done and she needs to be put in juvenile detention for more than a week before she us let go. She needs to face the consequences of what she has done.

Here’s the worst punishment that they can give her – take her phone/computer and all internet access away from her until she becomes an adult.

Another “times have sure changed moment”! When I was in highschool back in the early ’60s, I along with two friends called the school cafeteria to comment on the quality of the product only to be found out and summoned to the vice-principal’s office with my dad the next day. Needless to say my USMC Capt father was not pleased but I learned proper institutional dishwashing and am still the dishwasher at home.

The penalty for this shit needs to be really extreme. Juvenile or not, it’s not funny.

A big thank you to the Fortuna Police Department for their swift actions in finding this little brat so quickly and arresting her. They can’t take any chances with people who act like this. You never know if the person making the threats is going to go through with their plans to shoot up the school or not. She needs to get some serious juvenile hall detention time and be evaluated by a team that deals with these problems. To slap her hand and let her go could lead to something very serious like actually shooting up the school. This crap is scary as hell! Wonder if she is friends with the little punk from Rio Dell who pulled this last time? Thank God it was only a stupid damn prank.

Juvenile or not, she has threatened mass shootings. I think these are the kinds of people who should not be able to own a firearm.

I think what she has done will go on her permanent police record. Which should prevent her from purchasing a firearm when she becomes of legal age. The sad part is she can steal or purchase a gun from another criminal and use it now. Good gun laws can only do so much in preventing people that should not have a gun. There are thousands of guns not accounted for in this country making it impossible to stop every single one. But you must remember that it is not the gun that shot someone, it is the jackass who pulled the trigger.

Exactly. Statistically, a diagnosis of mental illness or a criminal record does not make someone more likely to commit a mass shooting.

Only one thing has been proven to be a reliable warning sign of someone committing a mass shooting in the future—threatening it. Like this girl just did. Keep an eye on her for the rest of her life.

I see a lot of people quick to ruin this girls life over saying stupid things, something we have all done at that age. I wonder does this girl really have access to a firearm? Is she really a threat, or just a lonely girl reaching for attention in a horrible way? There needs to be a proper evaluation to see if she is a credible threat or just someone that needs therapy. Question is do the parents have the resources to do this properly? Does the state? Who should be responsible even to make sure?

Just release her name, then she’ll get plenty of attention if you think that is needed. Maybe we just need her parents name, they raised her.

Kim, the people have a right to know her name, minor or not. Banning someone who does release her name is not right. What she has done, her name needs to be in the headlines. I agree with the Lone Ranger 100%.

Too bad that the thing that could protect a minor from the consequences of their bad behavior- that the school, parents and police will deal with it effectively- has been so eroded by victim politics, where the goal seems to be to protect the criminal from society rather than society from the criminal, that any reaction other than voluntary counselling, will end up in a lawsuit against the school of police. And there it stops. There is no effective mental health standard that can act to stop any violence because those who have mental illness are protected from any involuntary commitment. Those whose mental health impairment rejects treatment because they don’t see the problem as their own are protected from treatment too.

“Most of the violent attacks in schools over the past decade were committed by students who telegraphed their intentions beforehand—and could have been prevented, a new report from the U.S. Secret Service concludes.”

People are not trying to ruin this girl’s life; she is doing it all by herself!
