Just after 8 a.m., law enforcement received a report of a body wrapped in bags located in the Arcata Marsh. An officer sent to investigate called for backup and eventually a coroner arrived on scene near the railroad tracks.

According to Arcata Police Chief Brian Ahearn in a text a little after 9 a.m., at that point it was unknown if the remains were human or animal and the investigation was ongoing to sort this out.

Did you look to see if it was an animal? NO? Sad no matter if an animal, or a human. Try to have some empathy as to the people that lost a person, or animal. DAMN.

Seriously? Any kind of meat bagged up for long enough is just going to be a liquid mass of magots and bones. Do you know the condition of the find?

Right! Big difference. Not to mention there would be things like…fur…if it were an animal. But if this is yet another young adult female, murdered and dumped near a body of water, I’m sticking to the serial killer theory!

A Theory requires at least 2 successfully tested hypotheses that produce empirical data.

The trumped up serial killer “theory” doesn’t have even 1 successfully tested hypothesis or any empirical data to support it, as of yet.

At best, there are, maybe, 2 very THIN “potential” correlations.

Ockham’s razor suggests the simplest explaination is fear induced hyper-reactive mobminded conjecture, pure speculation, and confirmation bias at work in the so called theory.

Similar to checking the horoscopes and tarot for insight into homicides.

Something to do with this?

I had a feeling at the time , back on February 16th, that there was more to the story than met the eye…

It seemed to me more like a possible attempted cover-up for a possible gunshot victim…???

And now this, 12 days later ?

Just a coincidence?

More than just a coincidence?

A Longshot? Probably.

Possible? Maybe… That’s all.

Worth considering?

Depends on if this is a gunshot victim, I would say.

Another thought had occurred to me I’d rather not mention… So I won’t.

It is so sad that so many people go missing, some have no help, except the PD, Sherriff Dept. and after a year or later, it is as if they forget, but that is not true, we always remember our loved ones. And need to know what happened. That is holding on to pain and sadness inside forever. God Bless all.

Or maybe possibly since she still has not been found. But they did finally arrest someone on “Murder” charges. Maybe just maybe…… Whoever or whatever it is at least they or it will finally be able to be laid to rest. And finally someone family or something’s pact so to say, can possibly have some sort of closer!

I often consider walking my dog in the marsh but the cons outweigh the pros.

That’s because we incarcerate them faster than we educate them.

The marsh has turned in to a shot show. Not surprised about this at all, unfortunately. Why is the parking lot never patrolled?

I agree the parking lot needs to be patrolled often. Unfortunately APD is extremely short staffed, most people don’t want to be police officers anymore.

I also think it was a bad idea for APD to do a press release admitting they were so short staffed, it was like a message to people “Hey we don’t have the resources to enforce laws!”.

Traffic enforcement is also extremely lacking.

On every visit (not many) to the marsh, I get the sense that it is just a free for all: Whatever happens, whoever shows up, you’re on your own. Place is creepy even in broad daylight.

You guys are too much. Glad you’re not visiting the marsh – don’t want stiffs like you putting out bad vibes. I love the marsh and all the “creeps” that haunt it. I’ve been walking my dogs there for years and have never had anyone bother me. It’s a beautiful place, especially at night or around sunset. Also, a body can be dumped in short order almost anywhere, though I must admit, the marsh would make a convenient spot. 🙂

We go there all the time with our 3-year old, never had a worry. On sunny weekend days the trails are very popular with bikers, joggers, skaters, and walkers.

Yes totally nice place with very good light in the early morning and evening. Dead people can show up anywhere. Haters gonna hate!

My daughter Amber Rae Johnston of Bullhead City, AZ is missing. Her bf had pics of being in Arcada, CA. She’s been missing since Aug of 2021. Can anyone give me any more info on this? She us in NAMUS. I believe foul play is suspected.
