On September 11, almost exactly a month ago, another man, 65-year-old Eugene Steven Segal, was found dead near Hatchery Road in Blue Lake. (Though we don’t know the exact spot either body was located in, roughly this is about a mile from where today’s body was located.)

At this point, no official word has yet been released on whether the two bodies died of similar causes and if law enforcement suspects they are related.

Katy Gray, thanks, I see that now, too.
However, when the article first posted, when I commented, that extra information was not included.
The information was updated after I commented.
I was going by memory when I commented. Looks like I was right.

?? But now it appears that my reading comprehension is iffy.?‍♂️?

Well the Serious Violent Tweaker Element is strong in Blue Lake. The Usual Suspects you might say.

Some folks grandpa died recently. All the young dudes he was hanging with at work tried to pay for his cremation real quick. Autopsy showed he died of METHAMPHETAMINE TOXICITY at 80 years old. Entire family was floored. His wife of 63 years found it hard to accept. Worked as a laborer his whole life could not retire.

To be clear I am not saying the victims were Tweaker/Junkies, I am talking about the criminal element of FB/BL that are beyond hardened criminals.

Local law enforcement is not solving murders. We need new & better homicide investigators immediately. Want to get away with murder or be a serial killer… do it in Humboldt.

Especially Blue Lake, one walking around now, besides these new ones. I am sure there are more. The cops know who they are.

Did you see the North Coast Journal article and interview with HCS Honsal last week? No one is applying for any of the open positions on the HCSO staff. In Southern Humboldt, Willow Creek and other outlaying areas they don’t even to bother to send a patrol unit more days than not.
Considering they have police forces in Eureka and Fortuna I think it would be more prudent to send some deputies to the outlaying areas for a little coverage and let the other law enforcement do what thay can in the more incorporated areas.

But of course, it would kill these Right-wing cheapskates to actually offer more money for someone to do the job..

Pretty simple concept, no conspiracy, no crazy theories. When the market is up ,everyone happy, when market down , everyone desperate.

We are only seeing the very beginning of what will be very desperate times. First we invited all kinds of shady people here through our allowances of bad behavior, our easy grow money (or at least tales of it) and our court system’s lax penalties. Now the money rug is being yanked out by the mega-grows both corporate and greedy. Guess what happens next? It’s not rocket science. Get locked and loaded because we are about to see an onslaught of burglaries, robberies and various rip-offs. Even otherwise decent people will be driven to desperate measures. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

How terrible! RIP to the victim and condolences to those who may loved and cared for the victim.
I know cops can’t do a damn thing even if they think they know who the perp(s) are. Evidence is the key to a solid long term conviction. Doubt very much HCSD has the capability to wipe the victim for midachondrial DNA a perp may have left as a calling card. Perhaps it’s time to discuss a budget for a county supported forensics lab and officer training on how to collect DNA evidence.

How many unsolved murders are there in Humboldt County? Where could one find that information? I have to say i don’t have much faith in the HCSO in terms of solving unsolved murders. Does DOJ or the FBI assist? Maybe they should take the 1.5 million recently awarded for cannabis eradication and use it for more investigators? Too many questions, not enough answers!

Kym: What was the outcome of the drowning investigation at the Ingomar pool? I heard members were told not to talk about the death? Questions remain: was a lifeguard on duty? Did the victim climb over a fence to swim?
