Evacuations in Trinity Pines, Active Fire in Horse Ridge Area Above Ruth, and More in Tonight’s Update
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2518675311706451
Tonight, firefighters are struggling with a few areas on the north end of the August Comples. The US Forest Service put out a video on Facebook in which Shannnon Prather gives a description of what’s going on. If you can, please watch it, it’s less than four minutes long but here is are some quick bullet points of what is being covered in the video.
- Mandatory of evacuations for the community of Post Mt and Trinity Pines.
- Evacuations were prompted by spots that crossed over the south side of Rattlesnake Ridge. One larger spot is giving firefighters some issues.
- The moisture levels are coming up and helping in the Zenia Kettenpom, Ruth Valley. But Horse Ridge is active this evening.
- Div Q and T in the scar of the Buck Fire is doing well and firefighting resources are being re-prioritized over to the Ruth/Forest Glen area.
- Cal Fire helped with air tanker support in the Kettenpom/Hettenshow Valley area. Structure protection is in effect.
- Fire is still moving in the Bates Road area. Cal Fire is working on it.

Trinity Pines is north of route 36. They had hoped to hold the fire at 36, but it seems now like they are concerned that they will not be able to. The evacuation order doesn’t mean the fire is there, but it means it could be soon. Trinity Pines is a rural subdivision like the Rancho or Palo Verde and probably has one road in and out. It’s a big pot growing area, and lots of Hmong have moved in there since it is some of the rare small (20-40 acres?) parcels available in Trinity. The fire has been moving north since it threatened Kettenpom and Alderpoint. Fighting it from Kettenpom to Ruth means basically letting it go into the less populated northern areas.
Those who have travelled 36 will know what it means that the fire threatens both Forest Glen and Patina. Those places are at least an hour apart on 36. It gives some idea of the scale this fire is burning on
Trinity Pines is EVACUATED 8pm‼️
Fire jumped the 36..
I have not heard that the fire jumped 36. I do not believe that is true. Hwy 36 still shows as open on QuickMap http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
Ed,
Where are you getting those figures? Most of those Trinity Pines parcels are 1 – 3 acres. Those folks got into bidding wars for those parcels and were paying upwards of 200k for them, and that was probably a decade ago.
Forest Glen is only about 30 miles from Platina. If it takes you 1 hour to drive that, It’s either covered in snow, or you are going too slow and most likely have a few vehicles on your rear bumper.
They tried to clean up the pines with legalization. That didn’t work. It’s still a stew of weed and meth. Nothing against the hard working Hmong but there are a lot of low lives out there.
Just Kinda like willow creek and the Hoopa valley. Nothing against the hard working natives, but there’s a lot of low lives out there.
See what I did there willow????

If the wind blows inland then half the US will be high.
What a place… All the bare land is/was outdoor grow seems. Piles of fallen trees and dirt next to what appears to be deserter pot farms… How did they get away with this…?
Subdivision was formed back in the 70’s I believe long long before growing weed became mainstream
Yellow Jacket dam subdivision, wasn’t it? https://martingriffin.org/pdf/SMSCPTFOURpp152-184.pdf
I’m almost sure that project was the driving force behind the creation of Rancho and Palo Verde. I didn’t know about it’s relation to Trinity Pines. Sure glad Reagan killed that project.
The unintended consequences of 1 acre subdivisions way way out in the middle of nowhere. The original owners should be glad for pot or nothing would have ever sold. It would still be a fire nightmare if it had ever really been a residential subdivision.
Some of us have loved ones in the pines, you lowlife outsiders need to shutup and go back to your dirty cities where you come from. 🙁
Some of have loved ones among the lowlife outsiders in the dirty cities.
” How did they get away with this…?”
Thanks to liberalism the mental disorder, Hmong have learned to cry racism. If you are not a white, heterosexual male, racism is your get outta jail free card. The Pines is an environmental disaster. Every year more and more trees are leveled with impunity. I believe the law is afraid of being labeled as racists, just as they were in Siskiyou, so they do nothing. Thank a liberal for incessantly perpetuating the lie of systemic racism that is dividing/destroying this country.

Sounds more like un fettered capitalism.
But I keep being amazed at how Liberalism, originally referring to free market trading now is the cause for every ill in society. Who were the socialust hippies who subdivided their timber holdings to create Trinity Pines?
Weren’t the Hmoung fighting the godless NV Communists for us? How did they get hornswaggled into forming this socialist commune so close to Metro Platina?
Lib, I’m not sure what the Hmong fighting communists, or socialist hippies has to do with “minorities” learning to use the race card or a government afraid to enforce the law for fear of being labeled racist. No one is calling Hmong socialists or liberals; the Hmong actually work for a living.
rollin,
systemic racism is real and you have to be blind and/ or racist not to see it. You very quickly outted yourself in your first sentence.
OMG, I didn’t even realize that I outted myself. I’m so embarrassed. I guess I must be blind to my own racism due to my white privilege.
Thanks Kim that was a really great video. Love seeing it broken down like that with the divisions and branches on one side. I know cal fire is hiting it hard on the west. Good luck guys and girls? also side note la Nina system this winter..
What the hell do you mean? The pictures from above tell the story. I did nothing but look at the link Kym posted. How about you (Coletta Hughes) open your eyes and look for yourself. By the way I am a Humboldt county man, grew up in the woods and love this place. Oh and I don’t live in the city and have never been a lowlife. Close your mouth and open your eyes…
