Yes. Through the windshield is what seat belts are supposed to prevent.

The northern region of California seems to have an extremely aggressive bunch of trees. They jump out in front of vehicles on the highway all the time. Call the National Guard to save us!

Seriously though, here’s hoping this person is ok.

I recall a saying from when I was a twenty something…”remember, redwood trees don’t move”.

Typically said to someone driving home after a day on the river.

I refuse to hang tree scented air fresheners from my rearview mirror because it triggers the fear of the trees jumping out at me from around corners.

The “Guard” is hardly necessary for dealing with Jumping “Redwoods” just threaten them with a chainsaw, they back off quickly!!!

Hot rods go from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. The California Oak goes 60 to zero I’m zero seconds. That kinda how that safety commercial went.

I was actuay the first one that saw this accident/car crash. Seeing a tire and part of the car chasis of the car were in the middle of the road, i knew something was bad juju about …. checked it out and saw the car crash down the ravine, and thought the guy was dead… luckily the second bypasser on the road were a nurse and a cop… i hope this guys was okay! And his dog! And apparently his dad’s with him, he kept mentioning it, but we think he’s just disoriented from the crash. Definitey not wearing a seatbelt…. 🙁

Sorry the driver was injuried, but it sounds like he was not wearing a seat belt. If his vehicle had an airbag perhaps that stopped him just enough so he did not go completely through the windshield.
