UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: About 390 customers are now without power (Briefly over 3000 people lost power but now that has improved significantly.)

UPDATE 4 p.m.: Now around 147 customers are without power.

UPDATE 5:50 p.m.: According to Deanna Contreras, spokesperson for PG&E,

PG&E crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore the remaining approx 137 customers who are without power in Eureka.  Power was impacted at around 2:45 this afternoon after the top portion of a pole broke.  Crews are replacing the pole and the equipment on it and so they will be working through the night in the area of Summer and Pine on Henderson.  Power is expected to be restored to them by 3 am.  Approximately 3,289 customers were initially impacted. Crews were able to restore most customers within an hour.

We’re still looking into what caused the pole to break.

My home is without power and I live on N Street, so I suspect it’s more than 16 customers.

Really you can see the rot and holes in that pole should have been replaced 5 years ago. Once again PGE lack of Maintenance

No apparent reason, I don’t think so. That pole is rotted, and it snapped right where a bolt goes all the way through. Lack of maintenance on PG&E’s part. Their motto is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix the damn thing.”

Nice new hardware, old, very old pole. And no, CEOs won’t lose bonuses, nor will the maintenance crew lose out on overtime. Because WE will all pay for it, just like we are paying for the court ordered settlement to the fire victims.
