Redwood Coast Village Initiates Local Support Model for Seniors
This is a press release from Redwood Coast Village:
Following guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control, Redwood Coast Village (RCV), a local organization for seniors that coordinates volunteer help, is initiating a model of support that will help keep our community safer.
“Many of our members are active and living independently, sometimes with the help of RCV volunteers, sometimes helping other members themselves,” said JoAnn Schuch, a member of the RCV board. “We are asking all of our members and volunteers to become part of a “phone buddy” system. This system will ensure everyone has the food, medications, and pet supplies they need, and just to be a friendly voice at the other end of the line. We can also assist if someone needs a ride, but we are limiting non-essential trips for the next two weeks to help protect the health of all participants. RCV is also delaying public meeting and activities for the next couple of weeks, and will re-evaluate as the situation in the country changes.”
RCV will also help members stay in contact by sponsoring events like an online “Words with Friends” tournament or FaceTime calls with other people. “No one should feel like they are alone on an island” said Schuch. “We hope others can extend this kind of non-medical help to their own neighbors and communities. We’d also welcome anyone over 50 to join RCV and become part of our community of support”.
The RCV office remains open and staffed. Anyone with questions can call 707-442-3763 x217 or email [email protected].

Good work!!
Too bad this is not evident in Sohum.
Good ideas from a stellar community organization –
Thanks Redwood Coast Village!
Nothing conveys the need for ‘social distancing’ quite like three elderly (!) persons giving each other a group hug whilst celebrating…..something?
LOL
The shitshow is real.
