This is a great opportunity for good community neighbors to show up and help rebuild a community institution! You love the Mateel? Do you (constructively) criticize the Mateel? This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR YOUR COMM-UNITY!!

Am not associated with The MCC in any formal way, only as a long time member and supporter.
You pose an interesting question: 2 or 3 seats. It’s implied that there are 3 seats up for nomination. Yet the article says 2. Can you clarify Kelley???

I’m wondering if they audio record their meetings? I used to look at KMUD’s meeting Minutes online. They were most helpful when i was helping to write Bylaws for a non-profit i belong to.

Recording meetings to post transcripts (or the audio file) on their website has been discussed a number of times. Good to demonstrate transparency. Don’t know if they have done that yet. I support them making that addition to their community services.
That said, I can understand their reticence to do that, as the MCC and Board members have often been the subject of attacks. The exact wording of every comment could enable such.

Great answer, yes hide all records of public and non-public meeting like last year when someone on the Mateel Board authorized the use of 55 tons of “Dust-Off” emulsion on the river bar and below the ordinary high water mark at ROTR, which polluted the South Fork Eel River. This was not High Times doing, the invoice was billed to the Mateel! And this was after the Mateel was specifically ordered to to use “Dust-Off”, only clear water.

So much for any Mateel values or protection of one of the rivers include in your name!

Please define “attacks”; as in verbal “attacks” in public or blogs? Maybe if the Mateel Board would do everything on the up and up, in public and followed their articles of incorporation, bylaws and stop having closed executive board meeting, maybe the public will start trusting them. As it stands right now, they are way down on the list of EO’s anyone would consider supporting. And why is that, because the Mateel would rather have a concert than protect the wildlife habitat that cannot speak or defend for itself, like the South Fork Eel River…

I was actually thinking of YOU Ed when I mentioned “attacks”.
You have lost credibility in any way of cooperatively solving problems, which what a healthy community does.
When a person knows a sniper watches their every move, they do not make themselves vulnerable.
I, for one, am over your ‘method’ of seeking change! We all lose with the tactics you continue to employ.

IMHO, what you are calling “attacks”, is only the truth. And when you hide the truth, use propaganda to hide behind is when you are “vulnerable”. If anyone has “lost credibility” its the MCC Board, just like you defending them by using an anonymous name, its not credible.

“When a person knows a sniper watches their every move, they do not make themselves vulnerable.”

Wow, nothing like being a little paranoid. You give me too much credit. What the MCC has done, they have done to themselves, with no help from me. You use words like “sniper” and “tactics”, when in reality, the MCC has shot themselves in the foot, how many times?

There’s a saying, you don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.
