[UPDATE 8:19 a.m.: Eureka Looks Likely to Break Today’s Temp Record] Cooler But Not Cool Today

Hot Thundershowers Feature
Yesterday’s record breaking hot weather will cool slightly with temperatures in normally cool Eureka “only” predicted to reach a high of 76 degrees today.

Some areas could reach over a hundred degrees (Willow Creek, we’re looking at you) and Southern Humboldt will likely be in the low nineties.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms today–mostly in the afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service in Eureka warns,

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening over portions of Trinity County, interior Del Norte and Humboldt Counties, and northern Mendocino County. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning will be possible with these storms. Keep an eye on the sky while outdoors, and seek shelter indoors if you see lightning or hear thunder.

After yesterday, where temperatures soared and Eureka experienced a sweltering 85 degrees (a tie for highest ever in the month of June), today’s cooling trend will offer a slight relief. But, still, remember to look before you lock. Make sure children and pets aren’t left in vehicles unattended.

UPDATE 8:19 a.m.: The National Weather Service in Eureka tweeted,

A heat advisory is in effect today from 11 am to 7 pm for interior valleys including Hoopa, Weaverville, and Ukiah…where afternoon temperatures will range from 90 to 102. Warm temperatures in the 70s are likely along the coast…And while we’re talking about temperatures…the record high for today [in Eureka] is a precarious 68°. It is almost certain that we will break that record, and likely within the hour. As of 8:00 AM it is already 66°, which already ties the 2nd warmest June 12

Put your wallet or whatever you rely on the seat next to the infant seat. Unlikely you will get far without credit cards, money, ID, water bottle, mail, cell phone, etc.

It was 87 in Eureka yesterday according to many weather stations located around town, just not the one on Woodley Island.

Oh my, the sky is falling and it must be “global warming”. Google the Great Simoon of 1859 when it hit above 130 F in Santa Barbara and Goleta.

Lived down there in SB County for many years and it NEVER got that hot! But it did get into the 90’s a few times and Santa Barbara basically closed. If temps were measured in the sun it would have been 130 degrees.

That figure is apocryphal. The actual highest recorded temperature in Santa Barbra for June 17th is 96 degrees.

Maybe you should try Google yourself.

I googled it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simoom You might want to do that yourself. What does that likely bogus and totally anomalous wind event have to do with climate change? Or are you just trolling?

No, not “climate change” an inevitable event. The alarmist (read egg-sucking academics and bureaucrats ) who ply their living by stealing from producers through a system that collects money through threats of confiscation or imprisonment. No, no, no, the call was “global warming”. Don’t you find it intriguing that they changed the name. I wonder why (rhetorical)?

The only inevitable event we currently face is stupidity from the movers and shakers of America. And climatologists changed the name because the climate is not only warming at an alarming rate, extreme weather events of all kinds are also increasing at an alarming rate hence the name ‘Climate Change’. And guess whats causing this change. Never mind, you probably wouldn’t understand.

It’s extra deadly right now. Cold, deep and fast. Out-of-towers, take notice.

Doubt and procrastination are the biggest enemies to the climate catastrophe we are heading into. Giant pockets of methane is being released into the atmosphere from the melting of the permafrost. There is little time the petrochemical industry and some of the high mucky-muckey’s have been spreading Miss information for a long time in some places the ocean temperature has already risen over 2 degrees killing much of the Great Barrier Reef which was crucial habitat to many species some we will never know there is many things that we can implement that will help sustainus us into the future grid tie solar panels work even in Eureka they are a little bit pricey windmills can help reduce emissions are childrens future is at stake
