Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Releases Annual Drug and Alcohol Related Death Report for 2018:
Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office released today it’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Related Deaths Report for 2018.
The purpose of this report is to describe trends in the number of alcohol and other drugs-related deaths occurring in Humboldt County in 2018. Trends are examined by age at time of death, gender, location and substances related to death.
This report was prepared using alcohol and other drugs-related mortality data maintained within the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office records. Deaths represented in this report include only those in which the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office was called to respond. Deaths of persons in the care of doctors are not represented in this report. While many deaths represented in this report are a result of drug or alcohol toxicity, deaths related to chronic substance abuse were included.
During the creation of this report, Humboldt County Coroner’s Office staff located additional data for previous reporting years that was not included in the 2017 Drug and Alcohol Related Deaths Report. This is due, in part, to the recent transfer of data from paper records to a digital format. Data from 2015 and 2016 has been updated in this report, resulting in higher numbers than previously reported.

Only 8 opioid deaths in 2018? That is surprisingly low, everyone talks like this is where all the heroin is..and the busts would make me think there’s a lot more.
I’d like to see something on suicide rates. I’m hearing of more… While it’s respectful towards the families to not report on the names, it’d be nice to see accurate numbers.
