A fire that appears to have started at the back of a barn spread into nearby wildland vegetation northwest of Laytonville this afternoon, prompting a full wildland response, according to initial scanner traffic.
Dispatchers received the report around 1:45 p.m. of a fire at 2000 Baur Rd., stating the nearest intersection to the fire location is Mill Creek Road. Fire crews, air support and dozers were dispatched to the scene.
The fire is estimated at 1.5 acres.

Though Mendocino County is not under red-flag warning like their neighbors to the north, weather forecasts predict temperatures to reach 95 degrees today with west-southwest winds at 7 mph.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
Update 2:18 p.m.: Thanks, in part, to the quick actions of a privately owned dozer at the scene, forward progress has been stopped. Cal Fire dozers have been cancelled and Cal Fire air tankers are returning to base.

Did they save the barn?
It still stands.
Thank-you Lisa.
