Mendocino National Forest Closes M4 Road, Sets M10 Construction Restart Date
Press release from the Mendocino National Forest Service:
Beginning Wednesday, July 15, the M4 Road will be closed temporarily for repairs in the area of Lantz Ridge, located about 20 miles west of Paskenta. Repairs should be completed by Monday, July 20. A detour to get around the closure is to take the Tehama County Road 55 from Black Bear Camp to Log Spring.
Please use caution when driving on forest roads as equipment is being mobilized for various projects. Drive slowly and anticipate other vehicles or unseen hazards, especially around sharp curves.

M10 Road construction work to resume July 20
Contractors will resume construction on the M10 Road project Monday, July 20, 2026. Be advised there could be traffic controls or intermittent closures throughout the construction project. The construction is to repair a major slide, located above Fouts Springs near Dixie Glade.
Main impacts to access are to the Letts Lake basin on Grindstone Ranger District and to trailheads into Snow Mountain Wilderness. A 4WD high clearance vehicle is recommended (No Trailers) due to the narrow unstable area of the slide. The road can become impassable during or after storms with deep mud, rocks or other hazards. If the road becomes impassable, the detour to get around the slide is via the M5 and 17N02 Roads (high clearance vehicle recommended).
