A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported on the scanner in Eureka shortly before 3 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Broadway and West Wabash Avenue. Southbound travelers are being detoured off Broadway.

Initial reports came in around 2:55 p.m. and indicated that at least one vehicle had crashed into a building. According to scanner reports, one occupant was trapped inside a vehicle and required extrication by firefighters. Emergency personnel are going to have to roll off the roof to get to the patient. The vehicle, possibly a Chevy Silverado, is wedged between the building and a tree.

Two dogs are also in the vehicle.

Images from Caltrans traffic cameras show emergency vehicles converging on the intersection, including fire apparatus blocking lanes on Broadway.

The extent of injuries has not yet been confirmed.

I think one of the driver’s thought Adel’s was a drive thru. All kidding aside, I hope the driver and his two dogs are ok. Thank you to all the first responders for your work at the accident site.
