This is a press release from the Trinity County Board of Supervisors:
The Trinity County Board of Supervisors, officially passed a proclamation designating May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month. The resolution was adopted during the Board’s May 5 meeting to help increase awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, and promote community-wide wellness and recovery.
The Board emphasized that mental health is a foundational element of overall well-being and directly contributes to the vitality, productivity, and resilience of Trinity County residents. Recognizing that many individuals in the community experience mental health and substance use challenges, the proclamation highlights the critical role of early intervention, prevention, and culturally responsive, community-based services in improving outcomes.
“Mental health is an essential part of our overall well-being, yet it is a topic too often met with silence,” said Heidi Carpenter-Harris, Chairman of the Trinity County Board of Supervisors. “By proclaiming May as Mental Health Awareness Month, we want every resident to know that they are not alone, recovery is absolutely possible, and there is immense strength in asking for help. We are committed to fostering a community where seeking support is met with compassion, not stigma.”
Through this proclamation, the Board honors the strength of those navigating mental health challenges, noting that recovery from mental health and substance use conditions is possible. The Board also extends its gratitude to the dedicated providers, caregivers, peers, and advocates who support individuals on their recovery journeys.

How about designating May-April as “Don’t Throw Your Garbage in the Woods” months and the BOS apply the people’s taxes over something they have actual control of… the dump and transfer stations.
Supervisors get all high-minded about what they think the “should” do… Guess what? The people want a functioning refuse service, roads that don’t destroy suspensions and simple, functioning government. Not virtue signaling nonsense.
