Trinity County Seeks Groups to Fight Opioid Crisis With $250,000 in Settlement Funds

Seal of Trinity CountyThe Trinity County Health & Human Services Agency is pleased to announce the release of the Opioid Settlement Fund Request for Proposals (RFP). Trinity County Health & Human Services Agency Behavioral Health Services (HHSA – BHS) invites local organizations or groups addressing opioid prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery to apply for funding to support development, implementation, enhancement or expansion of programs.

Currently, Trinity County has allocated $250,000 dollars to award for opioid remediation activities. The goal of this opportunity is to serve Trinity County through development, implementation, enhancement or expansion of evidence-based strategies or promising practices to prevent and address the adverse impacts of the drug overdose epidemic.

Funding Priorities

This funding cycle will prioritize proposals that work to address one or more of the following:

  • Harm Reduction: Expand, develop or strengthen strategies that prevent overdoses, reduce stigma, and link people to care.
  • Prevention and Early Intervention: Develop, expand or strengthen evidence-based, youth focused programs and educational initiatives to reduce future substance use risk.
  • Treatment Access: Expand and improve access and availability of Medically Assisted Treatment, including residential and crisis services.
  • Recovery Supports: Develop, expand or strengthen sustainable recovery supports, including peer networks, access to recovery housing, workforce pathways, and other integrated supports that promote long-term recovery from Substance Use Disorder.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants include:

  • Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status.
  • Public agencies (schools, health departments, etc.).
  • Tribal organizations.
  • Community-based organizations.
  • Collaborative partnerships with demonstrated capacity to serve high-risk populations.

Important Dates & Submission Information

The RFP guidelines include important information regarding the purpose of this funding opportunity, eligibility requirements, proposal instructions, required documents, and key submission deadlines. We encourage all interested applicants to review the materials carefully.

  • May 4, 2026: RFP Posted.
  • May 20, 2026 @ 2:00 PM: Opioid Safety Coalition RFP Session.
  • June 5, 2026: Application Due Date.
  • June 17, 2026 @ 2:00 PM: Opioid Safety Coalition TA session.
  • June 30, 2026: Anticipated Notice of Award.
  • July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027: Anticipated Performance Period.

Hey- it will pay for some strategy meetings and ideas can be discussed about possible proposals to be formulated over potential actions that might be able to do something about the problems that were pointed out in the organizations’ directives and mission statements! And a couple salaries can be paid….maybe another press release and a poster can be distributed
