A New Breeze Blows Into Humboldt County as Low-Cost Carrier Makes Its Debut at ACV

To the sound of cheers and the snap of a ceremonial ribbon, Breeze Airways touched down at California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV) on Wednesday, completing the airline’s inaugural flight from Las Vegas and opening a new chapter in air service for the rural North Coast. It marks the first time Breeze Airways has ever served Humboldt County.

The milestone drew local officials, aviation leaders and members of the press to the McKinleyville airport, where speakers gathered upstairs in the main terminal before being escorted to a viewing area near the runway for landing festivities and a ribbon cutting.

Humboldt County Supervisors Rex Bohn and Natalie Arroyo addressed the crowd alongside county officials and a Breeze Airways representative. The speakers highlighted what the new service could mean for a region long constrained by limited flight options, both for residents seeking affordable travel and for visitors drawn to the area’s iconic redwood forests and rugged coastline.

The Las Vegas route is scheduled to operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Beginning today, Breeze will extend its ACV presence with the launch of service to Hollywood Burbank Airport, including connecting flights to Provo, Utah, running Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The economic stakes are significant. According to a 2025 ACV Economic Impact Study, visitors arriving in Humboldt County via existing air service already support approximately 584 jobs with an annual payroll of $34.3 million, generating $77.7 million in local economic output and roughly $12.6 million in combined state, local and federal tax revenue annually. Expanded service from Breeze is expected to build on those numbers.

The launch was a collaborative effort involving the Humboldt County Department of Aviation, the County’s Economic Development Division, aviation consulting firm Volaire Aviation and a range of community partners including Humboldt Made, the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce and Coast Central Credit Union.

Flights can be booked at FlyBreeze.com. More information about the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport is available at FlyACV.com.

That’s an Airbus A220- They’re a new narrow-body airliner, and Breeze Airways received their first A220 in 2021. Quite comfortable to fly in!

Maybe it’ll be a win-win, with the service industry in Vegas singin’ the blues; and we could use the connectivity 👏

Hopefully they won’t just breeze in, then breeze out a short time later.

Their website advertises $35 each way to Vegas (plus $35 for a bag.)
Not a bad deal.

I will be flying Breeze from Burbank to Arcata this coming Tuesday. Can’t wait to visit the Redwoods. I saved roughly $300 compared to flights out of LAX.
