A single-vehicle traffic collision involving a semi-truck blocked a lane of U.S. Highway 101 north of Laytonville early this morning, but no injuries were reported, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

The crash was first reported at 7:04 a.m. as a “semi in the roadway” near mile marker 78.5 on northbound Highway 101, just north of Laytonville by Spyrock Road. CHP requested a heavy-duty, three-axle tow truck for a big rig carrying two pallets in the rear.

Caltrans placed a full lane closure at the scene, though northbound traffic remained open while southbound lanes were temporarily closed. Travelers report that southbound traffic is allowed through the traffic site prior to 11 a.m.

CHP is reporting this as a non-injury traffic collision.

Tow companies, including All in One Towing, responded to the scene. According to the CHP log, both north and southbound lanes will be closed for approximately 15 minutes as the tow trucks bring the big rig back onto the roadway.

This information is based on initial reports from the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page and may be subject to change as more details become available.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update 11:39 a.m.: The northbound lane has been reopened to one-way-traffic.

Update: According to Caltrans QuickMap, both lanes of traffic are cleared, and the incident has been cleared from the CAD.

Looks a lot like the wreck we saw a couple of weeks ago on 101 but don’t remember the exact location.

The highway has some snow and is probably slick. Looks like the truck could have easily gone over the edge. I am glad there were no injuries.
