Around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, a commercial structure fire was reported near Covelo.
According to scanner traffic, the large commercial fire was threatening several nearby structures in the 74000 block of Hill Road on the east side of the Round Valley Reservation.
Multiple fire engines have been dispatched to the scene, along with water tenders, to support firefighting efforts.
The ALERTCalifornia camera system indicates the fire was visible shortly before it was reported around 2 p.m., suggesting it may have been burning prior to the initial call.
This is a developing situation. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
Update 2:40 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicated fire command was requesting outstanding resources, including one water tender and two more fire engines, suggesting crews were facing limited water supply and an expanding response.
Additionally, the incident commander requested responding units to access Hill Road from the north off East Lane, avoiding the southern access point that utilizes the Hill Road Bridge that has weight limits, possibly impeding units’ passage.
Hill Fire command indicates the firefighters on scene have achieved “pretty good knock down on the fire.”
Update 2:43 p.m.: Several incoming engines have been cancelled. An ambulance remains en route for standby in case any medical needs arise.
Update 2:47 p.m.: An engine has recommitted to support firefighting efforts.
Update 3:36 p.m.:

Smoke from the Hill Fire is diminishing on the AlertCalifornia “Big John” Camera, confirming reports from command that firefighters have made progress getting the fire knocked down.
