The you tuber mentioned didn’t disparage Eureka. He showed video of what he encountered in a day on Eureka streets. Eureka embarrassed itself.
I was actually surprised that he found the area of Second and A looking as good as it did in that video. Typically, and especially on a sunny day, it looks significantly worse. You can blame the person taking the video, or you could ask yourself why it’s become acceptable and no one is taking steps to clean it up.
I agree. He was fair to Eureka.
Oh it SO does. It’s always been butt ugly and only redeemed by the Victorians scattered around town. The 50s-60s architecture is sterile and boxy. Down town is really just pathetic with a few nice looking buildings recently built. Eureka is a dead zone, a pass through. Stop, gas up, shop the mini’s and keep going. It used to be full of excellent restaurants and fun clubs for dancing in Old Town, but they destroyed the Old Town Bar and Grill, The Vance Log Cabin, Snugs, The Palace, Fogs, Tomaso’s. ALL GONE. Nothing for tourists to do here. Or locals. Bah
First of all, it was a hodgepodge of cherry picked footage same which could be gotten in any of many similarly abandoned places in America. The guy keeps interviewing one other guy like he’s the expert on all things eureka. The videographer just wanted to visit and make some connections. Perhaps new connections in the process. People want to be on camera get their 15 seconds of fame and we’ll say what the videographer wants when the videographer picks the right person. This was not a cross-section of interviews from various parts of the city or people in it.
Eureka is disgusting, Arcata is worse…
Honestly, I have never been to McKinleyville…
Only Bakersfield ranks lower on the “Asshole of the World” scale…
I actually thought Carlotta was OK, 10 years ago…
I think that what you have to pay to live there is pretty insane, but parts of Eureka are almost scenic…
I used to shop at WINCO, Happy Doughnuts, Partricks, and that’s all folks…
Downtown Marysville has more style…
It’s no Tourist Attraction…
